As long as she doesn't actually remove you from the course i would advise you not to take any actions . Lets face it the teacher in question has not done something to warrant dismissal , at the most she will get a smack on the wrist . In return you will make an enemy in a powerfull position which can make life difficult for you , also her colleagues / friends might also not be well pleased .

Check the terms and conditions in your student contract. You would have had to sign one to get on your course.
there will be a section on absence and notification to the college. the consequences of missing work due to absence. If you have adhered to those terms then there really is nothing she can do that is anything other than being based on opinion.
If they are oinly giving you a days notice to attend a review then its obvious its more of a notice of intent and not a discussion about yuor situation. You are well within your rights to request an alternative date to prepare or on attending the initial review state clearly that the notice you recieved was too short and that you will not continue without the proper time to prepare and arrange a new date on the spot then leave.
and one thing i really recommend is to record every interaction that you have with them. Take a dicatphone in your pocket and if they disagree with what they might hasve said transcribe it and present them with an copy of the entire conversation.
best of luck

you would be ok to take a recording for 'your own personal records'.flash gunner wrote:Isnt taping someones coversation without their knowledge illegal? in court it wouldn't be admissable unless it caoptured the act of a crime, but it would be admissable in a precourt hearing, is my understanding, and ontop of that it normally shits people up when you say you have it on tape they said x

Well the meeting is over, I'm still on the course, but am being monitored. You all should have seen her, smiling and shaking my mums hand like a fucking sychophantic ratbag, even though she spoke to my mum like shit on the phone.
I got the strong impression from the very start of this meeting she was trying to 'evict' me if you like, from the course, but luckily my course director was there and was much more fair and understanding, and was the reason I'm still on the course more or less. I still say I did nothing wrong though. I've decided not to take anything up against this snobby fuck yet, and emphasis on yet, because the way she ended the meeting she made it sound as though she would keep a close eye on me, just waiting for me to step out of line. As long as she doesnt actually attempt to remove me again, I'll forget about it until I'm out of college, but if I get a repeat of her targeting me then I'll do everything I can to get her punished. I was also apparently lucky, because I wasn't the first student she'd try to remove since September 6, she said I was the first one to be allowed to continue on their course, every other person who she met with had been removed.
Also, thanks to the mods for leaving this up in General Chat for so long even though its unrelated to Arsenal, people helped me alot, so fair play to the mods/admins.
Also, performing arts, plenty of males take this course, its about 50/50 between males and females

what....
do you have the outcome of the meeting in writing or is it all done verbally, coz if tahts the cas then it all amounts to nothing can they cannot hold it against you in the future.
if you feel you are being hard done by you should express how you feel to senior members of the college now to help others that may end up being subject to her crap.
her saying that you were the first one 'allowed to continue' clearly implies that she has an agenda with removing students
make yourself heard.

Hmm, fair point 12th. I was actually thinking of this earlier, but one of the previous comments from someone who I forget said she/her friends could make my life difficult, which is why I said i'd wait till after I left college, but I want to do something, I need to make a difference.
EDIT - it was all verbal, as far as i know nothing was taken down or anything.

Right, the thing to do now is get your head down, make sure you do the work and don't give her a reason to pick on you. That way you'll both be happy.
So complete the course, and when you realise your qualification is a load of poop and won't help you get your desired job or money, sign-on the dole!!

Must be enough for a Tennis doubles tournament ! - glad to hear she has not managed to throw you off the course, some laxative in the her coffee should be enough to get evenSutch wrote:Well the meeting is over, I'm still on the course, but am being monitored. NO...Sutch wrote:Right, so I'm a college student, nearly 18, and I missed the whole of last week due to severe illness. On that very same week, I was assigned to a group and had to do a performance, but wasn't graded due to the absence, with my desperate attempts to attend on the crunch day failing.
Now, I was reviewed on Tuesday for this, as was everyone, and given another assignment to replace the one I missed, which I have just completed and emailed to one of my tutors. The tutor that reviewed me more or less said it's over and done with now and we can move on, but her superior has now sent a letter to my mum for another review, tomorrow, and has basically said she wants to remove me from the course. This 'superior' woman is one of those snobby, official, high-up, power hungry jobsworth people who get off on having power.![]()

After she spoke to my Mum on the phone this morning, I was then put on, to which she denied saying she wants to remove me from the course even though she said it to my mother not a minute before. Can this be treated as abuse of powe/position? And if so, should I take this up with perhaps, the Principle? My college has extremely strong rules on student protection, equality and diversity etc.
Not only here do I feel a massive feeling of injustice, but a massive worry that I could actually be faced with a real problem. The course I'm on, performing arts, I'm totally enjoying it massively, I've been on it four weeks, and this idiot wants to take me off and remove me from the new friends I've made just because I had one week off for something I couldn't help? If it was a job it'd be more logical, but colleges/schools are much more lenient with students than employers, I'm not the only one to say this. If anyone has been in a similar position, or has any advice for me to use in my defence tomorrow, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help peeps
