Hmmm, that subway that featured in Harry Brown is nowhere near the Elephant and Castle, but it's actually goes underneath the A12 between Mark's Gate and Chadwell Heath...

I would think they'd struggle for customers in that location - even if the sandwiches are made fresh in front of you, exactly the way you want it, on bread of your choice.

That may well be true, but as your the forum 'bread hater' I'm not sure your opinion in this regard counts for much...

The irony of it all is that I love bread - especially fresh - and eat it with almost every meal I have, whether or not it'srequired. Indeed, it is easily in the top 5 of my most desired foods.

One of my favourite quick snacks is fresh bread and a bar of chocolate, taking a bite from one and then a mouthful of the other. Absolute heaven!!! I also love eating fresh bread just with lots of butter on.

you should visit la pedrera in uruguay some day, IHH. uruguayan bread is the best i ever had, and i know some people who say it's among the best in the world. not only that, but in the beach i mentioned it is allowed to smoke cannabis and carry small quantities with you during the summertime

it's quite funny to walk on the beach there in the summer. a lot of funny, happy people smiling and slowly walking... and uruguayan chicks are quite fit

I remember when I was a kid, my dad took me on the tube to visit some family around the Elephant.

"Where are we going, dad?" I asked him.

"Elifantan Castle" he replied.

I was expecting to get off the tube and be greeted by some marvelous castle, straight out of a Walt Disney film.

What a fuckin disappointment that was!

E n C is safer than Hackney at night but like most places in inner London you watch yourself at night. The estate that Harry Brown was filmed in is the Heygate which is being pulled down. It's been used in shed loads of films,series etc. They even had Clint Eastwood filming there recently.

The area is getting yuppified(is that a word ?) with the obligatory fancy new flats galore but still retains an 'edge' to it.

A hotel near here if it's one of the chains(Travellodge,Premier Inn etc) would not be a bad idea as it would probably be close to the station and be on the Waterloo end of E n C which is quite close to the Imperial museum, the river etc.
If it isn't a chain then it will be a shit hole....look at it this way, if you've been to the Grove or Highbury would you stay in any of the hotels on the Holloway/Seven Sisters road...........yeah thought not....which one is it by the way

I live Bermondsey/London Bridge and pass through E+C regularly. Luckily I just pass through and never actually have to hang around there.
