Why not? - we're all Arsenal fans, it's a trophy and a Wembley cup final... how can than not mean shit? I've always loved cup finals... especially when we win!

I know we're all a little high and mighty these days because of the glory years that Wenger brought us, but some of my fondest memories are of our cup runs and successes in the early-mid ninties (Coca Cola & FA Cup vs. Sheff Wed. in '93, Parma in '94, and even Zaragoza in '95) - I loved these competitions, and I stilll do. Yes, we've been spoilt rotten with Premier League titles, an unbeaten season and endless Champions League campaigns, but I think it's a little sad to look down our nose at something that probably ALL teams in the football leagues other than maybe 3 or 4 clubs would be delighted with.

Over the history of our great club, our glory years have only ever been fleeting - so maybe we should get of our high horse and cherish these competitions.... yes, even the Carling Cup! :speechless:

Well yeah obviously.... The pressure on him has increased massively from both the media and fans so he does now have to take the competition seriously. Back when we were winning the Premiership and FA Cup he could afford not to go for the CC. It seems obvious that now fans are getting on his back for 5 trophyless seasons that he'll actually try and win one.
Don't really agree with either of these.

Our record for this particular trophy is really very good.

Even when he hasn't been putting out the first XI over the years, we've had what, a final and two semi finals?

We'd do well to match that if he commited to the cup every year for the next 5 years with the main squad.

Still don't mean shit in my eyes if we do win it.
What's not to agree? It's painfully obvious stuff. :?

Wenger has come under pressure from all angles for not winning a trophy for 5 seasons, right?

Fans are now calling for him to be sacked/resign because of this, correct?

So, in an effort to actually win a trophy he is now fielding stronger teams in the CC than before, correct?

I really can't see what you're disagreeing with there.

Yeah, but those cups were taken seriously by all clubs entering them. Therefore, value is higher.

Not sure its looking down our noses, just a realignment that the clubs, not the fans, have created.

So how come both Man Utd and Chelsea have won the CC as well as winning the premiership.Success breeds success

Anyone that thinks winning the CC is a major achievement is deluding themselves. the chavs and mancfilth couldn't give a fuck about it and neither did Wenger until desperation finally set in.

I do hope we win it but only because it might get these lazy mercenary bastard players we are stuck with motivated to go on and win something that actually counts in the grand scheme of things. In itself, as trophies go, the CC is totally devalued and has been since Wenger started putting out the kids to play in it years ago.

Whos saying its a major achievement???

I don't think he has really changed his approach, the squad has just got stronger.

A day at Wembley would be great. But if we do make it I will feel like it's been put on a plate for us rather than earning it, with Manure and Chelski having been dispatched by other sides.

Also agree with '91, that the squad is now stronger.

Winning this competition wouldnt get the gutter press like the tabloids and talkshite radio off of our/Wengers back but i dont give a fuck about those *word censored* id like to win it, a day out at Wembley would be good but winning it would be the only thing that counts. Personally i think Wenger has taken it more seriously this year and has played more first teamers in each game and maybe it will give us some sort of winning mentality but until we defend better as a team we will struggle with the big competitions.

Heres hoping this will turn a corner for us :barscarf:

Well we still had to win at the Shitole and despite Redknapp resting a few players they had enough out on the field to beat us....then we drew another Prem team (as usual) - albeit Wigan were a fucking embarrassment last night.

If we beat Prem teams all the way to the final I don't think we could say it's been handed on a plate. The fact is that Chelsea and United's squads aren't as deep as they were 2 or 3 years ago.

Just been reading Wenger's comments after the match last night, and taken a look at the team we put out ( I didn't watch the game  ) and it doesn't seem as though AW has changed his opinion of this trophy at all. He's still prioritising the CL and Prem, and he fielded a weakened side, same as every other year !.
