As opposed to good old conservative capitalism where poor people can starve so wealthy people can remain wealthier.skipper wrote:This has liberal capitalism written all over it, I'm afraid.I Hate Hleb wrote:Shouldn't be surprised really - Wenger is a bit of a old-school Socialist and this article could be interpreted as him advocating rewarding the workers and wealth sharing.
Are we to belive catering staff at Arsenal get a share of profit? Cleaners? Security staff?
You need to be over here - You'd be right at home...
But this is football discussion so to bring it back. I would disagree here I just think it's more talk to muddy the waters about who is making what decisions and why, which suits those running the club and possibly benefitting from these policies down to their toes.
But isn't that moot precisely because that is not and won't likely be the case any time soon?I Hate Hleb wrote:He concludes by saying he isn't against a limit on high wages, as long as it's applied in society as a whole. It's the singling out of football that Wenger is against, not the principle.
I mean its sort of like one of those "If my grandma had balls she'd be my grandpa" statements, no?

Arsène Wenger insists that players should not be singled out for their high salaries.
This week marks the 50th anniversary of the abolition of the maximum wage and footballers have benefited more than most with some Premier League stars commanding wages of £200,000 per week.
But Wenger does not advocate a salary cap in his sport and, at his pre-match press conference, the Frenchman was quick to point out that other professions attract eye-popping wages too.
“Why would you just want to punish football?â€

If they are bothered by this why offer three extensions to the manager since 2006? Why have they not insisted at that every least that he change some policies at some point? This didn't beging yesterday whoever you choose to blame.Arsenal 1991 wrote:They are.USMartin wrote:In all serious goonersid how come Mr. Wenger's employers don't see or aren't bothered by this? After all if you can see it surely they can as well, no?
So again if they are so bothered why have demonstrated 100% support for the manager at every opportunity and unconditionally extended his contract three times (twice at the very least) since 2006?

Easy in today's society there is is sadly little to no meomentum for regualtion of salaries and/or bonuses of executives in America or Europe at this time - though to their continued credit European executives do noit display the open greed and "pigs at the tough" mentality seen in Corporate America.I Hate Hleb wrote:Well to use one of your favourite tricks: prove it!!![]()

Sadly though they may be catching on judging by the bigwigs at BP reaction to their bunglling in the Gulf of Mexico.
Until there is a serious genuine movement in Western Society for responsible and reasonable pay for all its moot.
Done...and done
