Just watching the re-run on ITV, and that clearance / tackle Koscielny made during the one-on-one, when it was still 0-1, seems absolutely priceless now.
Really glad to see this thread as I've always thought that due to frustration over our overall defensive vulnerabilities, he was given a lot of unwarranted grief as they were long standing problems and he was given no time whatsoever to settle in even tho we are all well aware of how long it can take for a player to adjust to the Prem, does anyone remember Pires' first season in the EPL only to go on to be a absolute legend!
Thought Kos and Jack were outstanding. Also give credit to Theo for three interceptions in first half when covering back..Kos I think suffers when playing along side Squillaci, If TV5 was fit I think we could take any two from three and we could also lock Squillaci in a closet or something..
Jack Wilshere played against the most feared , respected and praised midfield in the world and he outplayed them. I hope he gets the respect that he deserves in the media . But this thread is about Kos and he deserves our praise tonight.
Gonna stick my neck out here, but I thought Koscielny was 9 out of 10 tonight.
Big tackles and a great spirit.
He loses a mark for his part in David Villa's goal.
Clichy was main culprit for simply dawdling around, no real idea of who to pick up.
But Koscielny was tight to his man and lost him.
That is mostly down to poor communication with Clichy, but it is up to both players to make a call for who they mark.
I blame Wenger for this too, has been far too long since we have had a properly organised defence, and that has to be down to coaching as well as personnel.
