But I can add to it. Six years without a trophy doesn't have to be "justified". It's sport, not commerce.
You support a team, watch them play, sometimes they are better than others and occasionally if you are blessed, they win a trophy.
HTH.

It just so happens that relatively recent successes have confused some people as to what, in the long term, is a realistically achievable success rate. Especially our younger supporters (I'm only 33 but I know my history).

It just seems that whenever we lose (to the likes of WBA, Newcastle and Spuds), the so-called "rosetinters" go quiet and turn a blind eye; and yet when we win a massive game like tonight, everything in the garden is rosey and past events are completely ignored. Wouldn't harm to have some balance, would it?antgel wrote:No, I'm saying... what I said.Bring Back Pires wrote:

I can only speak for myself, I don't see myself as falling in either camp, the reality of being a football supporter is that things are never black or white, and it's ridiculous to take a strong view on something as complicated as the beautiful game. Anything can happen in sport, and ultimately that's the beauty. We can all speculate on the reasons for winning and losing, but there's never any proof.Bring Back Pires wrote: It just seems that whenever we lose (to the likes of WBA, Newcastle and Spuds), the so-called "rosetinters" go quiet and turn a blind eye; and yet when we win a massive game like tonight, everything in the garden is rosey and past events are completely ignored. But the realists' tone grates with me much more than the rose-tinters', as the realists often get nasty, disloyal to the club, and vindictive, whereas the rose-tinters' worst "crime" is... being a bit naive or soppy?

And I hold my hands up, I don't post here much at all, but that's mainly because of lack of time in RL.
At least this thread hasn't been nasty - actually maybe it's the carnival atmosphere tonight but I feel a warm sense of togetherness. Purely platonic, you understand.

But for I leave the thread for good, I'd just like to point out, that this would be something to think about for half a second if it came from someone like BDB, Swale or even Louder (
) because at least they have been on here rabbiting on about Wenger etc after embarrassing defeats.
I aint seen to much of this antgel so for him to come on now, is a bit much!
Anyway BRILLIANT NIGHT

I can see why you decide to abuse me, it's a lot easier than trying to defend your position, which would be problematic given that everything points to you being very wrong and not knowing much about football (see first post).augie wrote:Deise Gooner wrote:wait till augie sees this![]()

Do you honestly think I would be drawn into a debate with a fcukwit who believes that one half of a 2 legged tie makes a season ? Seriously ? Am surprised the c**t can even spell properly
And I didn't say that one match makes a season, so please don't go for the strawman. But as you bring it up, the season's going quite well, don't you think? Better than most of us expected, no?
Yep, I'm done too, let's try to keep it cool, I'll let augie have the last word as I asked him some questions ^^. And as I said above, I don't have much time in RL to contribute to the forum, but I would like to think that the *quantity* of my posts doesn't detract from the *quality*. I also explained why I don't bitch at rose-tinters. ^^Irish Gooner wrote:But for I leave the thread for good, I'd just like to point out, that this would be something to think about for half a second if it came from someone like BDB, Swale or even Louder () because at least they have been on here rabbiting on about Wenger etc after embarrassing defeats.

Basically, I'm not a *word censored*.
