True to a certain extent bro, cos while he did ok after leaving us, for a player who cost Barca £25M only to play about 40 times in 4 years and then retire at 31 it's debatable whether he provided a good return for the outlay, even his mentor van Gaal said upon his return to the Catalans that he could tell that he wasn't the same player he knew from his Ajax days and that his spell in the EPL especially being a high milage winger had taken it's toll, and there's absolutely no doubt Le Boss saw the signs, before anybody!ArmoGooner wrote: Overmars was a decent player for Barcelona.
Leaving Arsenal can damage your career (31/10)

He has not achieved much since he left Arsenal other then a few appearences in the French national team and an arrest made by the French police.
Francis Jeffers
Well i guess he was never going to achieve much anyway but this crock of sh@t is now playing his football for Ipswich Town
Edu
Well maybe he has not done the worst since leaving but he is not producing the special football he was producing in the unbeaten season.
Stathis Tavlaridis
He was a young man who had a big future ahead of him now he is nothing.
I could go on and on.

i'd say gio van bronckhorst's lot improved after leaving the gunners. i think a lot of the deal connected to his move was compensation for what we did nabbing cesc, so arsenal did better out of the deal, but gio certainly enjoyed his days in spain more than in north london.
anelka, i'll grant you, has underachieved, but he did win the champions league in his first year away from arsenal, so initially, the move was not a backwards step. he could have been a great, but his moody personality did for him.
jury's out on bentley. pennant played in a CL final, and let's face it, he's better off at liverpool. initially though a step down to go to bimingham, but ultimately he probably does not regret moving.
for the most part though, le boss invariably getis it right. look at vieira. may have played in sides that won the italian league (although juve's title was bought), but he has spent so much time on the sidelines he can't have enjoyed it much. think he's out for the rest of the season so arsene did well to get a decent transfer fee for him. will be interesting to see how fit th14 remains.
pires and edu have both missed a lot of football due to their bodies not being what they were since the move away.
in fairness to wiltord, lyon won a good few titles with him in the side. yes, it's only the french league, but i'd say that move worked out well for him, and from memory it was a free transfer, so arsene didn't come out of that one so well. another diplomatic injury in 2003-04 a la lehmann. he wasn't going to extend his contract so wenger froze him out after about november (although i stand to be corrected if that's slightly out in terms of date)
