It won't happen, the pre-AW legends don't owe him shit and some of them are probably a bit antagonistic to him because he dropped them or sold them whilst the likes of Henry/Bobby/Ljungberg will not slag him off in public because they feel they owe him their careers.IW8Goalmachine wrote:wright had an article just after the CC final giving out about the profit reports. he said that many gooners accused him and merse of being anti arsenal because they come out a speak against the way the club is going.
more legends need to do the same maybe the ones that wenger signed like Henry and bobby

Your not wrong but even if they came out and had a pop he will still do it his way.topgoon wrote:It won't happen, the pre-AW legends don't owe him shit and some of them are probably a bit antagonistic to him because he dropped them or sold them whilst the likes of Henry/Bobby/Ljungberg will not slag him off in public because they feel they owe him their careers.IW8Goalmachine wrote:wright had an article just after the CC final giving out about the profit reports. he said that many gooners accused him and merse of being anti arsenal because they come out a speak against the way the club is going.

100% spot on!! notice how those kept on (parlour, adams, dixon, winterburn, etc) are "luke-warm" when they talk about aw. they're caught in middle between those discarded and those brought in post-98topgoon wrote:It won't happen, the pre-AW legends don't owe him shit and some of them are probably a bit antagonistic to him because he dropped them or sold them whilst the likes of Henry/Bobby/Ljungberg will not slag him off in public because they feel they owe him their careers.IW8Goalmachine wrote:wright had an article just after the CC final giving out about the profit reports. he said that many gooners accused him and merse of being anti arsenal because they come out a speak against the way the club is going.

Now Wrighty was my favourite player from the day he joined but I remember many Gooners who used to coat him off. Some didn't like his "attitude" and the effect his suspensions would have on the team. I remember reading various Arsenal fanzines especially from around 95 onwards with regular letters (remember them?) from pissed off Gooners who claimed Wright only care about himself.Didn't see it like that myself but there were lots of grumblers about then too.Irish Gooner wrote:Wrighty and Merson,we could do with brilliance like that in the team now.mikeyb772001 wrote:Same as Wrighty they say they don’t care because they dare criticise Wenger or the team.
Flair and brilliance, mix with top drawer work rate, passion and love of the club.
Legends!
Funnily enough the moaners were mainly the generation above me who were in their early 30s who I used to travel with. I'm not sure but it seems that the main "realists" are now supporters in their 30/40s and see things a touch more negatively than the teenagers/early twenties who seem more optimistic.

As Step commented earlier, Merson is and always has been a Chelsea fan.mikeyb772001 wrote:100% wrong 1991 - Merson is fucked off with Arsenal but still loves us.Arsenal 1991 wrote:I think Wrighty is a legend. Just like myself and many others. Its because he is in the lime light it sounds worse.
No way is he a chav
When his dad agreed to sign him up for the Arsenal youth teams Merson freely admits to crying his eyes out because he wasn't allowed to sign for Chelsea.
All the years playing for the club and the support he received during those times certainly gives him soft spot for the Arsenal.
But he's a Chelsea fan at heart.
agreed pre-apprentice days but since 80's soft spot for chelsea and afc at heart.......similar to parlour and west hamNumber 5 wrote:As Step commented earlier, Merson is and always has been a Chelsea fan.mikeyb772001 wrote:100% wrong 1991 - Merson is fucked off with Arsenal but still loves us.Arsenal 1991 wrote:I think Wrighty is a legend. Naah I'm sure its more recent than that, pretty sure he used to go to their home games when he was at Villa and still living in London.n6gooner wrote:agreed pre-apprentice days but since 80's soft spot for chelsea and afc at heart.......similar to parlour and west ham
I read it in his book. Not a bad read if anyone hasn't picked it up before.
i can see where you're coming from but, logically, if he was chelsea at heart there wouldn't be any uncertainty cos he would have "come out" in public at some stage after leaving and he wouldn't spend most of his time passionately talking about arsenal ahead of the chavs. time will tellNumber 5 wrote:Naah I'm sure its more recent than that, pretty sure he used to go to their home games when he was at Villa and still living in London.n6gooner wrote:agreed pre-apprentice days but since 80's soft spot for chelsea and afc at heart.......similar to parlour and west ham
