As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Playing Japanese teams would be a good workout though. Definitely a lot of good to come from over there. Their football seems to be improving all the time. Their Asian Champions League clubs are well ahead of the competition...especially the Australian teams.

Yeah i was watching Asian Football on Sky sport last night (a big hit with MRS Flash )and they had the AFC champions league Gamba Osaka beat Melbourne 5-0 i think. Japanese football does seem strong(ish)
See flash the reason for that is the world greatest manager developed Gamba Osaka and the japanese league to such an extent that they are now nearly up to the standard of the worlds top leagues
I believe sid once posted about how many clubs Wenger has transformed and Osaka were in this list.
Actually this is a very good move really (though I thought the teams were already selected for the Emirates Cup well in advance). It would give Arsenal a lot more attention in the New York City Area awhile and likely return match would be a prt of the deal next year or perhaps the year after as part of an American tour.
The only thing I'd say is that New York is hardly the best MLS has to offer right now, and while some will argue MLS as a whole is vatly inferior and reasonably so I'd rather we take on the very best it has to offer - Mr. Kroenke's own Colorado Rapids or Real Salt Lake or Los Angeles Galaxy in the last couple of years.
Still to me a good move and good first real step into the American Market maybe.
I'm gonna be in Kuala Lumpur from the 13th till the 16th so hopefully i'll get lucky and we'll be playing on one of those dates!
Apparently their is a probable friendly in China also as part of the tour, as well as some ridiculous rumour about a friendly against Leicester in some middle of nowhere village in the north east of Thailand.

Yeah that's the most recent big win for Gamba. They beat Adelaide United 5-0 in a two-legged Champions League final a couple of seasons ago too.
Just this week another Japanese team, Kashima Antlers, beat Sydney FC 3-0. (And to compare the A-League to the MLS, Sydney FC have beaten LA Galaxy in the past).
With Wenger's experience over there it probably wouldn't be hard to organise a solid set of fixtures against Japanese opposition. Club can't complain much either - there would be a lot of money to be made from playing some matches over there.
No, it's the other football club Wenger works for (gives advice to his mate the president, I believe) and where he'll likely go once his time at Arsenal is over!!!
