As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I accept that. But they also say that manyoo have 333million "supporters" worldwide.
By my reckoning, this means that roughly one out of every 200 people on the entire planet is a manc scum bastard.
Or have I got my decimal points fucked up?
Actually its worse if that's true - more like one in every twenty
isn't there a puking emoticon?
One in twenty cannot possibly be true.
I think the American version of a million is one hundred thousand.
Elsewhere, a million is one thousand thousand.
I still might have my decimal points fucked up, though.
No - we all count the same million the same way. I think if anything Forbes is wrong. Their number is bullshit That's one third of one billion. If that were true I'd vote for Sarah Palin and count on her convincing herself God wanted her to launch our nukes.
Is the American billion 1million x 1 million? Or is it 100,000 x 1 million?

American Billion is 1000 X 1 million
British Billion is 1 Million X 1 Million
Surely you're not suggesting marty has got his figures wrong!!

I bet Wenger creamed his pants at the latest figures! He'll be thinking his refusal to spend is bearing fruit at last......never mind the fact that we used to be a football club!

In British English, a billion used to be equivalent to a million million (i.e. 1,000,000,000,000), while in American English it has always equated to a thousand million (i.e. 1,000,000,000). British English has now adopted the American figure, though, so that a billion equals a thousand million in both varieties of English.
In British English billion has traditionally meant a million million. The American meaning of billion (a thousand million) has become standard in technical and financial use, and it is now better to use it in all circumstances.
Maybe this is the problem - maybe our Board only think we have 100 THOUSAND pounds banked away rather than 100 Million
'Billion' from the American is now used world-wide, meaning 1,000 X 1,000,000.
333,000,000 ManU supporters means 1 in 20 people.
That really is sickening.
Where's the barfing emoticon then? Even if that figure of 333 million is rubbish as I suspect it is.
The figure of 333 million seems pretty random. I think the question is rather "what is a fan?"
I know there aren't 333 million members of the official ManU supporters Club, and I'm also pretty sure there haven't been 333 million different people at Old Trafford.
Granada, when they bought their 10% shares, estimated that The Worldwide Arsenal fans numbered 27 million, and at that time, 2005 I think, we were 3rd, after ManU and Real.
I now guess that Barca is up there as well, and we have probably fallen a bit.
Just googled ManU fans, and seems that the figure is between 75 million and 333 million. But you really have to wonder what a 'fan' or 'supporter' is in these surveys.
