Walcott wasted talent

Yes he's probably better upfront but I'm beginning to agree with the notion 'he has no footballing brain.'
Any reasonable footballer should be able to adapt into any reasonable position.
Analka, Rooney, messi, henry, etc all prefer to play upfront but they still do a fine job in any position.

I posted this comment on Diaby and Denilson's performance in the 2007 CC Final.

Same might be said for Walcott.

"It is almost as if the qualities and positional sense they brought with them to the club have been coached out of them."

Yesterday we saw the cart horse James Milner blast past Robinson and Muamba with not even skill -just basic movement.

Walcott can't even do that.

IMAGINE MILNER HAS MORE WINGER SKILL THAN OUR WALCOTT!

Another pointless game from Walcott - he hasnt earned the right to play up front (where i think he would be poor anyway because he cannot make decisions under pressure). He doesnt get involved enough, doesnt look for the ball enough, doesnt do anything with the ball, doesnt look interested frankly.

The sad fact of the team out there saturday was he was one of the more "senior" players and he gave nothing to the team. When the chips are down, Walcott is nowhere.

Another Anti-Walcott post. I wish you'd be so fierce with your views on Bendtner, song or Wenger even

Maybe so flash but I have to concur with everything bdb said - on saturday he didnt even work for the team and instead hid, as he has been prone to doing, when his team needed him  :x Where was he when the rookie jenkinson needed a help out ?

Theo has not got the brains to play at the top level and no amount of coaching will change that  He doesnt know where to run or when to run and if he thinks he is crowded out on the wings just wait until he plays up the middle  Tactically most if not all managers are smarter than ours and they know that if they play deep then he has no space to run into and would not be much good playing with his back to goal so they would effectively freeze him out and it would be as easy as that. As far as I am concerned little theo has got way too big for his boots and if he thinks he should be able to dictate where he plays, especially when you consider how little he has contributed so far, then he should think again

Walcott went hiding on Saturday.

However, I think he needs to be given a chance to play upfront, problem is, this requires Wenger to play 4-4-2, with RVP and Walcott playing off each other.

AW will never play 4-4-2 even though we are no longer a 'top-four-club' and we've only scored 1 goal in three games!

Im not doubting Walcott isnt up to it but it just strikes me as strange that many get slagged off for being blinkered ie 'Wengers is a *word censored* mob' (not that BDB said that) and yet there are others who seem to think Song is great or Wenger can turn it around or Bendtner is a good squad player yet seem to have very blinkered views on Walcott :?

I don't think Wenger uses him creatively enough, although everyone knows of his pace and plays deep to stem that threat.

If we had some players who could shoot outside the 18, it might be good to have Theo hanging off the last man, pushing their line deeper. They'd either risk the breakthrough pressing up, or give us room to come in and take a shot from distance.

Of course that would require 1. we had players who can shoot, 2. we try something different, 3. tactical flexibility. None of which we really have these days...

well said.... regardless of position, he's supposed to be a "footballer" which clearly he's not....no technique/brain/application, just pace.......he should make more impact as winger/striker/whatever, but it never happens!!!.....disappears for most of his "minutes" during games, and gets paid way too much for fuck all, typical crap wenger signing...how many seasons is it now ffs???... stop waiting for him to improve this is it!!!

Various pundits in the written press and the tv media all stated that both AA23 and Theo didnt get involved enough which put pressure on the younger members to make the difference. The phrase big names big games, well they are talking about these 2 delivering performances then this is the season to do it.
