One more thing mate: be very careful when translating the interview because no doubt the English media will pick up on it and try to distort anything they possibly can to make us look bad (or should that be: even worse?).

absolutely hlebby, i know about that. anyway, gilberto didn't have any bad words for The Arsenal except for the fact that in his opinion we ditched our experienced quality players a bit too quickly when we went from the invincibles to the 'invisibles'. and i guess no one can say he is wrong about that. edu said the same when we interview him.I Hate Hleb wrote:Brilliant stuff BG.![]()
I must admit that I probably didn't appreciate Gilberto as much as I should have when he was in the team. What I'd give to have him here now though.

that was weird mate. we gave him the shirt, thanked him for his time (and his years at arsenal), said goodbye, and he was on the way out of the room when he walked back and said "mates, would you sign this shirt for me? will be a good reminder for both you lads and for me".marcengels wrote:why the fuck are you signing a shirt for gilberto mate?

cheers! and absolutely mate, agree with every word there.Jumpers For Goalposts wrote:BG - that is brilliant mate!! The word legend is massively overused but Gilberto really is a legend.
I always liked him but only realised what a great team player he was after he was out injured with his back problem. He was the kind of player that went about his job quietly but by God was he effective.
Every championship winning team needs a Gilberto - the unsung hero that holds the team together and allows the flair players to do their thing. And by all accounts he is a thoroughly nice bloke - well done BG!!![]()

basically he said he is very proud of helping making brazilians support arsenal (and it is true indeed, he did have a major influence on arsenal supporting brazilians back in the day) and he wants to remember it, so the shirt with our names to him is sort of an acknowledgement of that and a way for him to remember it.
it sounds silly, but he did look happy when we signed the shirt for him. that's what made it so special![]()
