In Rome we had the drink ban* on the day of the game followed by a police escort to the game where we had nut-job Roma fans either side of us chucking all sorts of crap at us and a high glass barrier to seperate us.
In Braga we walked to the stadium following the cops after a day long session. Under the stand there was only crowd control barriers seperating the 2 sets of fans.
*When I say ban, it was easy enough to get beer if you bought a pizza or some such in a bar/restaurant.
Imagine being in athens now!

Heard a lot of people say that I don't understand it.... We went on the bus which took us down to the beaches and also up to Notre Dam where you get views out to sea and across the city. The city itself was like a hilly, lived in, slightly African version of Paris. I loved it! And yesterday we had the best moule + frite + beer ever in a harbour side restaurant (opposite side to the irish bars). It wasn't as glamourous as Nice and Monaco but 10 times nicer than Eastbourne or Brighton and 100 times nicer than Liverpool or Newcastle! Please don't tell me you hung around the train station or just sat in a bar..... ! Shame on you if you did !zero 6 wrote:Had a good time but thought Marseille was an absolute shit-hole !!
It's not hard, but I think you'll have a better time if you can tag along with maybe your local supporters club or someone from on here who is in the same position. I've been to a lot of away games - including Europe - on my own, but definitely had a better time as part of a group.mikehutch86 wrote:Definitely want to do one but Athens might come a bit too soon for me, usually go on my todd to the away games but i guess it isnt to hard to find gooners scattered around

I got Rome on my Red Membership. Most group games go well down the pecking order.augie wrote:I would love to do a european away trip cos the only euro away game I ever done was champs league final 2006
