As been said already it has to be Rocky.

I used to sit West Lower in the block next to away fans separated only by the barrier (we had aisle seats). I made a point of looking at them throughout the silence for any sign of disrespect . . . nothing. They were impeccable.

The **** sitting across from me wiped a tear when it was over.

in brazil it lasts around 15 seconds. and no one respects it, no matter who passed away. very disrespectful, i wish they simply didn't do it.

but to be honest that's not a big surprise, brazilians have absolutely no class in those regards really.

Was a strange one, never been in a minutes salience like that before. After a few seconds there was shouting and jokes and then all these cans rolling down the terraces of the clock end!

By far the strangest one was just after the 9/11 tragedy when we were playing Schalke at home in the Champions League

You could hear a pin drop in the Gooner sections whilst the Germans burst into a chorus of "U-S-A" and started applauding.

Was a bit weird - a few looks and shouts of disapproval from the West Lower, despite the fact that their intentions were obviously honourable

thought we played Mallorca on 9/11...
didn't they have Ralph playing as a midfielder?

I was at that Schalke game (3-2 I think) but dont remember minutes silence may have missed kick off

Also got to give the minutes silence for Rocky credit here, was so sad but you could see how much respect for the man there was around football. he was taken from us far too young.

The game was against Leeds and the Old Bill were still carting the bloke out of the West Lower when Lee Dixon scored in the first minute - I think it was GG's first game back at Highbury.

The Bobby Moore silence was also against Leeds in a midweek 0-0. Most of the crowd weren't even aware Bobby Moore had died - no rolling news or iphones in those days. I remember you could hear doors banging in the silence and the turnstiles clicking - very eerie.

I was in the North Bank.

I refused to be part of a minutes silence for George Best - a waster who threw away his life at the expense of someone who could have genuinely appreciated the liver he was given. I went and stood at the back of the East Upper, inside the stand, and was joined by a good couple of hundred other like-minded people that had walked out of their seats.

Well isn't it great that your life is so perfect that you can stand in judgement of others. How about respecting his on the field achievements? Or would that have got in the way of your self-centred attitude?

your right, i remeber there was talk of the game been called off but because we were already on the island it went ahead.

The Schalke game was on 19th Sept by the looks of things (just looked it up).....sure it must have been the first at Highbury after the 9/11 events and I clearly remember the "U-S-A" chants because it shocked all of us, that were used to just standing there heads bowed for these things.

Looking at the online reports, Lauren was playing for us that night.

By the way boys you were right - we actually played Mallorca on the island on the 11th September. Schalke at home was the following week. It was still weird listening to the Germans chanting that though...
