Wenger in L'Equipe

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

you are complete and utter total fucking morons

I have just about had enough of the anti Wenger c**ts on here
dont u fucking realise that if Wenger leaves then RVP will to and most probably Wilshere etc too.

with Kronke in charge we would be at the level of Spurs within 2 years

and if some c**t comes oon here now and keeps saying that I am a WUM I AM GOING TO GO MENTAL

although i agree with some of your points, RVP will go whether Wenger stays or go - in the past Vieira, Henry, Pires, Cesc and Nasri all left and then said what a wonderful, great manager Wenger was - but he could'nt convince any of them to stay for another season

RVP situation will be sorted - by money of course - who offers him the most

I don't think Wilshere's future is necessarily tied to Wenger's - I think his bond with the club is deeper than that.

In any case, what evidence have we got to say keeping Wenger = keeping our best players? - it's been a steady flow out of the club in recent season, and unless RvP decides to put ambition aside and stays for the love of the club, then we'll be losing him next.

I think a few seasons back, keeping Wenger was key to keeping Pires, Vieira, Henry, Cesc, etc. but not any more - I think that bubble has now burst and players are seriously looking for more than that. Whether "that' is money or trophies depends on the player.

no, they're not total fucking morons. ok, teecee might be (just joking matey   ) but the truth is they've been on this forum for longer than you, contributed to discussions here much more than you, and i consider both to be smart and reasonable guys, even if way too pessimist for me - but their opinion is theirs and you must learn to respect that.

stop the fucking lack of respect, it's pissing me right off.

proper discussions start with "i understand your opinions, but mine are..." or "i disagree, you miss the fact that..." not with "that's stupid you complete moron"

learn some respect, you and baba.

Disagree. I think it's awful timing by Wenger.

Results are improving, we're climbing the table, the boo boys are quieter and there seems to be a togetherness building within the team.

If anything, it's the sort of thing that will kill any chance of keeping Van Persie, can only have a negative effect on the players and worst of all.... gives the media more ammunition to endlessly question his future.

Even if he is considering leaving, he should shut his mouth! - he's basically just dragging a cloud back over the club just as it was starting to lift for the first time in months! - why? :?
i can't get my head around that too, g88ner, timing is awful, and he swore to get to end of his contract, saying that he always does. and said that a thousand times.

i know lately he's been the 'contradiction man', but that would sound bizarre - him lying about his own character would not only be sad but the ultimate proof that he is losing any respect he could have left...

i'm guessing this is another footie magazine trying to get attention, or maybe, just maybe, he's upset about something inside the club that we don't know of, and is doing this to make the board shit their pants.

like that bob marley tune, 'oh time will tell'...

By the way, 1989 - I know you were saying it's good news he's considering leaving and not the timing of it... don't really know why I quoted you, to be honest
It's okay mate.

Agreed about the timing. We are on a good run now so a bit unneccessary from the clueless one to come out with this stuff. Still, very encouraging that he's openly stated he's not sure whether he'll stay beyond the summer. That's progess. :barscarf:

arsene wenger wrote: No [I wouldn't think about quitting]. If you read [the interview in L'Equipe] you will see I said that I have two years on my contract. It was after a conversation with a journalist and he said, 'there is no way that you will ever leave is there?'. I said the only way I would consider it at the end of the season is if I didn't deliver what is expected from me. Then of course if you say you love the Club and you are below what people are expecting from you, that is the only way I will consider it.

For the rest of the time I am personally completely committed to the Club and will respect my contract until the end. At the start of the season when I made this interview there were of course many people questioning what I do. I was determined. The interview was two or three weeks ago. But I maintain that I am committed to this Club and will respect my contract until the last day - unless I feel that I am not good enough.

He's a fucker that Wenger, he'll only quit if he doesn't do what we expect.....so falling apart in Feb/March, winning nothing and coming 5th is what we expect so no quitting.....damn you!! 8)

arsene wenger wrote: I have to honestly rate the quality of my work at the end of the season and think whether or not I took the maximum out of the team. You want me to say now that if we do not get into the top four I will quit. Over 15 years I have had many questions to analyse the situation in the most honest and objective way.

I don't question my commitment to my contract and I think I have shown that in the past. I will do that in the future too. This is the club of my life and will remain so unless I feel I do not do well enough. I don't think that is something surprising.

I can return this question to you - what do you expect of me? We want to play football that makes Arsenal proud and that gives enjoyment to people who come and watch us.

on his frame of mind for that interview…
No [it was no different to now]. Even when I gave an interview to a foreign newspaper after we lost 8-2, I was even more determined to put things right. It was nothing in my mind especially, just the fact that the journalist asked me if I would ever leave the Club. I said the only way I could do it if I feel I am a pain for the Club.

I think it is a "non-story".

The quotes about him leaving are too vague to read much into.

I think that the master of spin has been caught out by the press this time.

The sly fox is playing mind games with us.

He knows we've got a banner and are prepared to use it. (Well I think we're prepared to use it)
So he reckons if we think hes going next May the we'll all stop critising him and take the pressure off cause well........... "Whats the point - he's leaving in May anyway"

But I'm not buying it. Sounds to me like another "Judge me in May" shit comment.

Fucking go now Wenger you classless, arrogant, senile, shit talking fuckpot and take Arseholeshavin, Squeaky, Djourou, The Clown, Flappy, Denilson with you.
