Mertesacker chant

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

already a chant for him, to the tune of Macarena, hes 6 foot 6 and his name is Mertsaker, he'll knock you out and his name is Mertsaker, hes Arsenals number 4 and his name is Mertsaker, Perrrrr Mertsakerr,

so why does he need a 3rd song/chant?

Because people don't take notice of new chants at games... Like the Gervinho song, we've got a perfectly fine song doing the rounds (Gold by Spandau ballet) and everyone's singing "we've got Gervinho"

That's what happens when the demographics of the fanbase is such... Does my head in tbh, but it's not gonna change till a lot of mugs fuck off... We just gotta focus on getting songs going at aways then eventually they will catch on at homes.

He'll knock you out because he's a 6'6" beast. Simples.

To be fair, the only chants that were clearly audible from the away fans on Saturday were 'By far the greatest team' and 'We love you Arsenal'!!

Surely the best opportunity to invent new chants is at away games in the pubs pre-match and then on the stands? Yet how many new chants have been created over the past few years by 'the best away fans in England' (Copyright SWL) and then become established enough to be known by more than a handful of gooners?

Think you misunderstood my post mate, that is exactly what we do do, but it's very hard to catch em on at home games, even in 6...

..RVP chant
We'll sing what we want
Ramsey (just can't get enough)
B'jesus said paddy
Ole ole ole ole ole
Who's that dying on the carpet
Arry's going down
Wings of a sparrow
Oh Vermaelen number 5
Wilshere was a young boy...

All of them are quite regularly heard at aways, but very little chance of all but the RVP one catching on at the Bowl.

Just because he's tall you shouldn't stereotype him as a "beast" and someone who'll knock people out. He might be a gentle giant, and takes offence at the song...cos it's inaccurate and shite

im like arseofcrow, and dont understand the "knock you out" line. sure should be simple to come up with another line. i have sung "plays at the back" instead??

gervinho song is/think should be the jls song "she makes me wanna"
"Ger-veen-ee-OH-OH-OH-OH-OH-OH?

heard it first in marseille i think. so easy to sing aswell. personally love it. hopefully his goal at wigan can start off good form for him (goals wise) and the song will become more popular. shame he off to african cup!

Didn't want to start a new thread in case it's already been mentioned, but this was class on Sky Sports News earlier

Nothing funnier than a foreigner swearing live on British t.v and watching the presenters embarrassingly apologising to the audience

I remember once Freddie was on match of the day and said "shit" and the wankers on the show never knew whether to tell him off or apologise to the audience first

Also for some reason the Germans love it that we call him that. The Dortmund fans loved it. The Munich fans found it hilarious. Mind you, it is pretty good.
