MOTD 2 - ARSENAL 125TH SPECIAL

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

MOTD3, bit more Arsenal stuff.

O'leary's respect amongst Arsenal fans now is virtually nil. Will never forgive the fucking lap of honour that wanker did after the 1 nil loss.
That night at Leeds was a strange one.O'Leary celebrating on the pitch after we had virtually lost the title to Man Utd.He had two testimonials off us after all
And the Leeds scum celebrating that their bitterest rivals Utd had won the league.
I know it would never happen but would we ever celebrate a win that gave the title to the Spuds
O'Leary will never get over that night

I still love ex-players such as David O'Leary and George Graham. What they acheived during their time at Arsenal will always outshine anything else during their football careers. Anyone who has played football will know there is no better feeling than beating your ex team, even if you still love them. Professionals have a career to consider whereas fans will usually be blinkered and only ever have their own clubs agenda in mind.

I have even read on this forum supposed Arsenal fans criticising Ian Wright, Tony Adams and Alan Smith for their media opinions. For Christ sake some people truely are pathetic.

David O'Leary - Great player but showed a total lack of class that night for Leeds.
Plenty of ex-players etc refuse to celebrate when they are opposing their 'home' club as such. O'Leary showed his true colours that night and you can't blame Arsenal fans for feeling bitter about that.

What O'Leary did as a player for Arsenal far far outweighs anything he has done or said since leaving the club.

His reputation may be tainted, but insulting the man is a low and unnecessary blow, in my opinion.

Some people focus on the negative far too often, for my liking. It's poisonous.... don't people get bored of hating and disliking so many Arsenal men? :?

Sorry I just cannot forgive him for his behaviour towards the club after he left and became Leeds manager. He did A LAP OF HONOUR when they beat us to cost us the title, he went right by where we were giving it large. There was no excuse for it. This is a man who we all loved, who everyone had great respect for, to rub it in our faces was a disgrace.

The man can fuck off.

The whole Leeds squad did a lap of honour. It was their final home game of the season.

As far as their all time XI is concerned, I would have had Spunky between the sticks. Nothing against Jennings, just think that over a longer period Seaman was by far the better keeper.
I also think I would have picked Dixon ahead of Rice but obviously difficult for him to pick himself!

I'm not usually a hater g88ner, but even I have to make an exception for O'Leary and it's exactly because of his history with the club, nearly everything negative said about him so far is absolutely bang on, an arrogant, self-centred big time charlie and the only thing he loved more than himself was the camera!

He has burnt his bridges as far as I'm concerned and is so disliked at the club that our own board laid the blame for Leeds demise at his door rather than Risdale who everyone else was blaming, and I think it also speaks volumes that nobody's beating his door down to employ him!

There is a certain way to act if you're a footballing legend, even more so if you're an Arsenal one and it doesn't involve celebrating wildly at stoppin us winning the league in what was otherwise a meaningless game for them!
When TH14 scored that quickly taken free against Villa in the Invincibles season O'Blarney was absolutely furious and absolutely refused to admit any hypocrisy when reminded by the interviewer post-match that Ian Harte had done exactly the same thing two years earlier for Leeds to beat us 2-1 when he was their manager and which he again took great delight in, with which BTW I have no problem!
