Now about halfway through Merson's book - How not to be a professional footballer and it has just reinforced my opinion that he - along with Adams and the other members of the Tuesday club, Groves, Bould, Winterburn threw away such a great opportunity to be a truly great team through pissing away the night at almost every opportunity.

With chapter headings like "do not shit on David Seaman's balcony" you know it isn't going to be high brow stuff and having read "Addicted" by Tony, some of the antics aren't new either but it does highlight how proper professional's like Seaman, Dixon, Bergkamp etc must have looked on with a mixture of embarrasment and disgust at the behaviour of supposedly grown men such as Merse dumping in Perry Groves' pillow case

As always a couple of snippets of info from the players' perspective make the book a decent read but so far has left me shaking my head and thinking what a waste of a career (or two)
