You as a fan of Arsenal FC.
1. When did you start supporting Arsenal and why?
When I was really young maybe 5 or 6 (am 23 now), it was Spurs or Arsenal and a few mates at school supported the Arsenal.
2. When and aginst whom was your first game at Highbury?
Coventry at home in 1996, Gallen opened the scoring, then DB10 scored, will never forget it.
3. Which of the four stands at Highbury did you frequent regularly and why did you choose to stay there (for example i was a North Banker and because i loved to actually look at the big clock in the clock end)
West Stand, family enclosure, only way we could afford to go. Went in the North Bank Red Section when it was introduced for CC games.
4. Which venue was your first away ground following Arsenal?
Loftus Road, Dad got tickets in the neutural section! That might have been in 96 as well.
5. When did you first go to White Hart Lane for a NLD?
5-4 win, was in the Spurs end North Stand, very tough. Since then I've had a terrible record at the lane. Came down from Leeds where I was at uni for the 5-1.
6. Of the North West grounds which one was/is your favourite and why?
Goodison Park, the place hasn't changed for decades, I love the tradition, but hate the poor facilities! Plus, their fans are normally friendliest.
7. Of the North West grounds which one was/ is your least favourite and why?
Wigan, total dump, nothing there, poor club all round.
8. Have you ever been hurt at an away ground and how badly?
Had stones chucked at my car in Liverpool, but no serious damage.
9. Have you ever travelled with the travel club and if so do you think its both value for money and time saving?
Only a few times, think it's a useful service but I normally go with a few mates so cheaper to drive.
10. Which of the old grounds that no longer exist do you miss (not including HIghbury)
Haven't been to a ground which no longer exist (apart from Wembley, but don't really miss it).
11. How many cup finals have you attended with Arsenal playing?
3 (Chavs in the CC, Birmingham in the CC and Chavs in the Charity Shield)
12. Which one game stands out for you as the best for entertainment( not including cup finals or title winning matches)?
5-4 away at Spurs, what a day.
13. Who for you is the greatest player to wear the shirt and why?
Thierry Henry, just an outstanding goal scorer.
14. If you saw your first game in the 1960s/1970s/1980s/1990s/2000s who was your hero for Arsenal?
1990s, hero was Dennis Bergkamp, then became Henry.
15. Are the dark days of the mid 70s and early 80s being eclipsed by the current last five years for despair?
N/A too young.
16. How much realistically do you think Arsenal need to spend to build a team capable of winning the title?
Genuinely only think we need to spend £50m to have a top quality side.
17. Do you really think the departure of Harry Redknapp will change the fortunes of Tottenham to what we have come accustomed to?
No, Harry has done well to build a solid team which will stay at the top for a few years.
18. Do you blame Roman Abramovich for the decline of football and the financial restraints it has placed upon other clubs?
Not just him, but he was the start.
19. Do you think once Wenger leaves Arsenal the club can return to the halycon days of the invincibles and who do you feel could take us there?
Very hard to tell, I'd love to be optimistic, but think we will be a top 4 challenger with or without Arsene for the next few years.
20. What one moment in Arsenal's history would you change and for what reason?
This summer I would have used the Cesc and $amir money right away to sort the squad out, without it we have been playing catch up.

Re: You as a fan of Arsenal FC.
1. When did you start supporting Arsenal and why?
From pretty much the age I could say the word. I am from a whole family of Gooners spanning generations. My old man has been going since the 50s and my long departed Grandad was born in 1896 and lived in Plumstead supporting AFC from its South London days
2. When and aginst whom was your first game at Highbury?
78/79 season at home to Ipswich
3. Which of the four stands at Highbury did you frequent regularly and why did you choose to stay there (for example i was a North Banker and because i loved to actually look at the big clock in the clock end)
Mostly the West Lower as my Dad has held two season tickets there for years and still has two in Block 2 at the new place. As I got older and started going with mates I liked both the Clock End and North Bank. Only ever sat in the old East Stand on a handful of occasions. Clock End was most fan if it was a big game, shared with the away fans.
4. Which venue was your first away ground following Arsenal?
The Hawthorns
5. When did you first go to White Hart Lane for a NLD?
Can't remember exactly which one but mid-80s, before GG's era
6. Of the North West grounds which one was/is your favourite and why?
Strangely enough Ewood Park. Had some great days there - the 4-1 in the snow on the way to the title was one of the best. Always fucking freezing but usual rotuine, drinking in the pub at the top of the hill before and after. Cobbled streets still around the ground !
7. Of the North West grounds which one was/ is your least favourite and why?
Anfield - hate the club and its fans and never seen us win there either
8. Have you ever been hurt at an away ground and how badly?
Nope
9. Have you ever travelled with the travel club and if so do you think its both value for money and time saving?
Joined it when we got into the Champions League in '98. Had a good old jolly boys on the ferry on the way to Lens but didn't particularly find it any better than booking stuff ourselves so gave it up
10. Which of the old grounds that no longer exist do you miss (not including HIghbury)
Unbelievably Plough Lane
11. How many cup finals have you attended with Arsenal playing?
League Cups in 87,88,93 and FFS 2011
FA Cups 93 (but not replay
), 98, 03, 05, ECWC 94, CL final 06.....so 10, and stuck !
12. Which one game stands out for you as the best for entertainment( not including cup finals or title winning matches)?
Too many to select from. The 3-2 win at home to United when Arsene knew (Platt's header) was up there for pure theatre and excitement
13. Who for you is the greatest player to wear the shirt and why?
Hard to compare players from different eras and positions, but Bergkamp was the most all rounded talented player that I've seen in the shirt.
14. If you saw your first game in the 1960s/1970s/1980s/1990s/2000s who was your hero for Arsenal?
Started off as Malcolm MacDonald and then moved on to Alan Sunderland because of that goal and that hair
15. Are the dark days of the mid 70s and early 80s being eclipsed by the current last five years for despair?
Yes, but that is probably to do with expectation levels being mismanaged by the current board and having a sense that supporters are being fleeced for an ever decaying 'project'. The football was shit in the late 70s and early 80s but at least the club felt like it belonged to the fans and was run by Arsenal men.
16. How much realistically do you think Arsenal need to spend to build a team capable of winning the title?
Not as much as most people would have you believe. Spurs have done it this season without spending huge sums. If we raised £20-£30m from selling off the shit we have now and reinvesting it all, plus another £30m on top we'd be up there challenging
17. Do you really think the departure of Harry Redknapp will change the fortunes of Tottenham to what we have come accustomed to?
Who knows. It depends who they appoint. For years they chased ex-idols like Hoddle, Ardiles etc and it failed. The Twitcher will be hard to replace though
18. Do you blame Roman Abramovich for the decline of football and the financial restraints it has placed upon other clubs?
Not at all. You can only register 25 players. Its up to a wealthy man how he opts to spend his money. When all is said and done he hasn't won the Champions League despite a clear path in terms of wealth for a few years. Its a nice excuse for underachievement and poor management for certain clubs though
19. Do you think once Wenger leaves Arsenal the club can return to the halycon days of the invincibles and who do you feel could take us there?
Not the invincibles maybe, but Guardiola could do the job and get us competing at the top level. On the other side of the coin, David Moyes could do for us what GG did
20. What one moment in Arsenal's history would you change and for what reason?
David Dein selling up and being forced off the board. The club is on a one way road to oblivion without this know how and I fear the worst now we're being managed by shallow corporates.

Re: You as a fan of Arsenal FC.
1. When did you start supporting Arsenal and why?
Mid 80s, just after we lost a league game away at Watford- don't know why, I just chose them. My God-father is an Arsenal man so perhaps that played a part
2. When and aginst whom was your first game at Highbury?
March 89 home to Forest, lost 3-1
3. Which of the four stands at Highbury did you frequent regularly and why did you choose to stay there (for example i was a North Banker and because i loved to actually look at the big clock in the clock end)
North Bank- always like being behind a goal
4. Which venue was your first away ground following Arsenal?
Plough Lane
5. When did you first go to White Hart Lane for a NLD?
Never been. In truth, it's because we did well there for a while when I was younger and thought I would stay away from games there as a sort of good luck charm. Might start going now, though!
6. Of the North West grounds which one was/is your favourite and why?
Old Trafford- especially the cup games when we have big allocations ad when Giggs misses open goals.
7. Of the North West grounds which one was/ is your least favourite and why? Wigan or Blackburn. Dull and lifeless with little thought put into the design.
8. Have you ever been hurt at an away ground and how badly? No, thankfully. Although a Sunderland steward had to return me to my seat quite forcefully after a bit of a wrestling match with him during a 1-1 game up there in 2001. The bloke told me to behave, stop swearing and to stop being silly. He then shook my hand at the end of the match and wished me a safe journey.
9. Have you ever travelled with the travel club and if so do you think its both value for money and time saving? Only on train packages- seemed ok- Villa return for £20 one year.
10. Which of the old grounds that no longer exist do you miss (not including Highbury) For sentiment- Plough Lane. Roker Park and Baseball ground for tradition
11. How many cup finals have you attended with Arsenal playing? 3
12. Which one game stands out for you as the best for entertainment( not including cup finals or title winning matches)? Villa at home in 1991 when we won 5-1. I remember listening on the radio and hearing the goals go in and then Platt went in for them when Spink got injured. It all seemed like a panto.
13. Who for you is the greatest player to wear the shirt and why? Bergkamp for pure skill and for being a level above every other player at times. I wasn't there at the time but I'd imagine Cliff Bastin was pretty decent too.
14. If you saw your first game in the 1960s/1970s/1980s/1990s/2000s who was your hero for Arsenal? Charlie Nicholas
15. Are the dark days of the mid 70s and early 80s being eclipsed by the current last five years for despair? Thankfully at 30, I'm actually too young for that.
16. How much realistically do you think Arsenal need to spend to build a team capable of winning the title? No idea.
17. Do you really think the departure of Harry Redknapp will change the fortunes of Tottenham to what we have come accustomed to? Yes
18. Do you blame Roman Abramovich for the decline of football and the financial restraints it has placed upon other clubs? Not on the whole although he succeeded at proving money can buy trophies but Jack Walker before him did the same.
19. Do you think once Wenger leaves Arsenal the club can return to the halycon days of the invincibles and who do you feel could take us there? No, that was a one-off group of amazing players that just clicked. If any man could do something similar it would have been Cloughie in his prime.
20. What one moment in Arsenal's history would you change and for what reason? Bergkamp 1999. No more words needed. Although I still hate Luton for that game in 1988.

1. When did you start supporting Arsenal and why? Boxing Day 1977. Why? Because of the player who impressed me most at that game. The Spider - David O'Leary.
2. When and aginst whom was your first game at Highbury? Boxing Day 1977 against Chelsea.
3. Which of the four stands at Highbury did you frequent regularly and why did you choose to stay there (for example i was a North Banker and because i loved to actually look at the big clock in the clock end) 1977 to 1994 North Bank. When it was terracing, five of us friends used to meet at the same place every home game.
4. Which venue was your first away ground following Arsenal? WHL.
5. When did you first go to White Hart Lane for a NLD? 23/12/1978. We won 5-0 at the Lane.
6. Of the North West grounds which one was/is your favourite and why? Anfield. I don't know why, it just is.
7. Of the North West grounds which one was/ is your least favourite and why? OT. I just hate their supporters.
8. Have you ever been hurt at an away ground and how badly? I was struck on the leg by a one litre Thermos flask thrown off the top of the Hill at Sheffield Wednesday, FA Cup 3rd round 1979. Various other leg injuries over the years but only from goal celebrations, the worst of which were a dislocated knee and a torn patella tendon - same knee, separate games. Hundreds of away games, never been clumped, though. Yet...
9. Have you ever travelled with the travel club and if so do you think its both value for money and time saving? The five of us used the travel club to all aways on the football special trains back in the 70s. It was great value then. I try to avoid using it nowadays though. It's not the cost so much, but the boredom...
10. Which of the old grounds that no longer exist do you miss (not including HIghbury) Filbert Street. It holds a very special place in my heart.
11. How many cup finals have you attended with Arsenal playing? 15. I think.
12. Which one game stands out for you as the best for entertainment (not including cup finals or title winning matches)? League Cup SF against Liverpool at Highbury in February 1978. It was a 0-0 draw but it stands out for me as the greatest all-round football match I've seen live.
13. Who for you is the greatest player to wear the shirt and why? Dennis Bergkamp. Because no-one else comes close.
14. If you saw your first game in the 1960s/1970s/1980s/1990s/2000s who was your hero for Arsenal? 1970s and it was Chippy Brady.
15. Are the dark days of the mid 70s and early 80s being eclipsed by the current last five years for despair? Which dark days? If you support a club you have to take the rough with the smooth.
16. How much realistically do you think Arsenal need to spend to build a team capable of winning the title? To win it next season they will need to spend about £250m. But I'd much rather see a title-winning team develop and mature over the years from the youth ranks, instead of a constant stream of money-grabbing mercenaries.
17. Do you really think the departure of Harry Redknapp will change the fortunes of Tottenham to what we have come accustomed to? I'm not at all interested in the fortunes of Tottenham or their manager. The season is far from over. I still believe they will not finish above Arsenal.
18. Do you blame Roman Abramovich for the decline of football and the financial restraints it has placed upon other clubs? No. I blame the amateurs at the FA for losing control of the game in the early 90s once the Sky cash started to be waved about. As for Abramovich, he will end up in one of two ways, either murdered or in jail. I'm convinced he's a crook and it's coming to him.
19. Do you think once Wenger leaves Arsenal the club can return to the halycon days of the invincibles and who do you feel could take us there? No halcyon days if Wenger leaves, not for a few years anyway. And before you condemn, no I'm not an AKB. It's just that his influence runs like a thread through everything to do with the Club as it is now; and it will take years to eradicate. Before the start of this season, I would have said AVB may take us there but since he's been at the Chavs, I've changed my mind. Pep G, maybe?
20. What one moment in Arsenal's history would you change and for what reason? The club should never have let Chippy go to Juve in 1980. I found it nigh on impossible to believe that my then hero, who was Arsenal through and through, would be allowed to leave.
2. When and aginst whom was your first game at Highbury? Boxing Day 1977 against Chelsea.

8. Have you ever been hurt at an away ground and how badly?
Loads of handbags over the years but nothing major
9. Have you ever travelled with the travel club and if so do you think its both value for money and time saving?
Used to use the footie specials in the 80s. Great journeys and don't remember them being too pricey. Would never use it now.

Sky started it off
19. Do you think once Wenger leaves Arsenal the club can return to the halycon days of the invincibles and who do you feel could take us there?
Nah. The invincibles will never be repeated. We do need fresh ideas and I've always seen David Moyes as more than capable of building a team that's hard to beat with flair
20. What one moment in Arsenal's history would you change and for what reason?
I'd stay at Highbury. Ever since we moved it's been constant bullshit and bollocks about money. Just not been the same club or matchday experience.

12. Which one game stands out for you as the best for entertainment( not including cup finals or title winning matches)?
Too many to choose from but just so pleased I decided to buy a ticket for Anfield when some of my mates thought I was mad!!
13. Who for you is the greatest player to wear the shirt and why?
Has to be Dennis (apologies to Thierry and Tony)
14. If you saw your first game in the 1960s/1970s/1980s/1990s/2000s who was your hero for Arsenal?
I suppose it was Supermac for the short time he was here!
15. Are the dark days of the mid 70s and early 80s being eclipsed by the current last five years for despair?
Yes. In those days you knew what you were getting. These days the bullshit and bollocks drains your patience
16. How much realistically do you think Arsenal need to spend to build a team capable of winning the title?
£50-75m
17. Do you really think the departure of Harry Redknapp will change the fortunes of Tottenham to what we have come accustomed to?
Unfortunately not.
18. Do you blame Roman Abramovich for the decline of football and the financial restraints it has placed upon other clubs?
Sky started it off
19. Do you think once Wenger leaves Arsenal the club can return to the halycon days of the invincibles and who do you feel could take us there?
Nah. The invincibles will never be repeated. We do need fresh ideas and I've always seen David Moyes as more than capable of building a team that's hard to beat with flair
20. What one moment in Arsenal's history would you change and for what reason?
I'd stay at Highbury. Ever since we moved it's been constant bullshit and bollocks about money. Just not been the same club or matchday experience.

1. When did you start supporting Arsenal and why?
Out of the womb. Once I hit an age old enough to be aware it was all about the 87 League Cup final, didn't need any steering from the old man. My brother who was a Liverpool fan then eventually came to be involved in the family business
2. When and aginst whom was your first game at Highbury?
Coventry supposedly around 85 but I can't remember it. I do remember Oxford in 86 though.
3. Which of the four stands at Highbury did you frequent regularly and why did you choose to stay there (for example i was a North Banker and because i loved to actually look at the big clock in the clock end)
Junior Gunners to begin with but once I hit 12 and could go on my own, Clock End as there was no North Bank.
4. Which venue was your first away ground following Arsenal?
QPR
5. When did you first go to White Hart Lane for a NLD?
Bergkamp's first season. In the home end
6. Of the North West grounds which one was/is your favourite and why?
None
7. Of the North West grounds which one was/ is your least favourite and why?
None
8. Have you ever been hurt at an away ground and how badly?
Nope
9. Have you ever travelled with the travel club and if so do you think its both value for money and time saving?
Yes, up to Everton and Coventry. Left way too early but parked up pretty close to the ground and got a blue light taxi back to the motorway so not too bad.
10. Which of the old grounds that no longer exist do you miss (not including HIghbury)
Coventry, Highfield Road
11. How many cup finals have you attended with Arsenal playing?
1
12. Which one game stands out for you as the best for entertainment( not including cup finals or title winning matches)?
Arsenal Leeds FA Cup 93 season. 2-0 down at half time roaring back into it with Parlour and a Merson classic. When the FA Cup meant something
13. Who for you is the greatest player to wear the shirt and why?
Bergkamp. He did everything that is good about the game really really well
14. If you saw your first game in the 1960s/1970s/1980s/1990s/2000s who was your hero for Arsenal?
David Rocastle and Paul Merson
15. Are the dark days of the mid 70s and early 80s being eclipsed by the current last five years for despair?
No as money and 4th place is just as much a reward to certain sections of the fanbase
16. How much realistically do you think Arsenal need to spend to build a team capable of winning the title?
Too much. Right now it has to come from tactics and discipline
17. Do you really think the departure of Harry Redknapp will change the fortunes of Tottenham to what we have come accustomed to?
Not now, attracting Ramos a few years was a signal of their intent. Levy will get another top name in.
18. Do you blame Roman Abramovich for the decline of football and the financial restraints it has placed upon other clubs?
No, I blame Sky for pumping in the big bucks long before Roman turned up
19. Do you think once Wenger leaves Arsenal the club can return to the halycon days of the invincibles and who do you feel could take us there?
No, that era was a one off.
20. What one moment in Arsenal's history would you change and for what reason?
Nayim from the halfway line. School was fucking shit for months after that.

A lot of hate for Sky on here.
As Sammy has asked for respect for everyone's opinions, I will honour that, but it does seem a little bit hypocritical to wax lyrical about players like Bergkamp and Henry, when it was Sky's money that facilitated the world class imports to start with, and also when people crave more signings of their ilk
I still remember being heartbroken because Italy's wealth took Brady, and that was how things were here before the advent of the Premier League complete with Sky's money. Even Rush left all conquering Liverpool for the 'lure of the Lire' as it was once referred to

With Sky, the clubs have to take a lot of responsibility too. They went out and pissed that money away big style thinking it was a never ending pot.
That money facilitated the mega money contracts for some really average players. In part that has led to the disgusting attitude of today's up and coming players and that is what really has declined in football for me. Bad attitudes and fucking cheats
But mainly what I don't like about Sky is that now they basically call every shot going in the league. If they want a game live, they will have it.
It's like the clubs never realised that old saying, when you dance with the devil you wait for the song to stop. They're fucked.
Yes it was their greed but Sky new what they were doing all along.
Lol, sorry mate. I already gave them though.....obviously left a lasting impressionEboue-Why? wrote:Stop whingeing Steve and just give Sam your 20 answers!!!!SteveO 35 wrote:A lot of hate for Sky on here.
