Atmosphere and early LEAVERS AGAIN

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Good point Robsy - early leavers are nothing new.

I remmber years ago a subscription advert in The Gooner had someone reading a copy of 80 Minutes with a speech bubble saying "How do you know I'm a West Upper Season Ticket holder?"

However it does seem that there are far more people buggering off early. I can appreciate that if you live outside of London evening Kick-Offs can be tricky to get back from; a friend of mine couldn't stay for the second half of extra time against Sp*rs last season, which he was gutted about.

Nevertheless if people can't stay for the whole match and to give their support to the lads after the final whistle they really shouldn't bother coming along.

My concern is that there will be always be a cracking atmosphere in the big games. The real test of our mettle is when we're not doing great against 'lesser' teams and we need a sustained and concerted effort from us to help inspire the lads. The Wigan game just gone, for example, seemed to have so many whiners and moaners slagging the lads off - but whenever a chant started up, did they join in for the cause?

Did they f*ck.

Does it really hurt to stay for an extra 5 minutes? :?

The so called supporters who leave 5/10 minues before the end are a joke. Give a proper fan your ticket if thats what your gunna do!!!

It shows respect to the players and to Arsene!

Please dont shoot me down for saying this but i think SOMETIMES its not all that bad.. It can be an un-believeabley hard task to get home from ashburton sometimes so i do kinda understand if its a done result
There's always the 12 pins - that's the other side of the Finsbury Park post match barracade.

If you want to be home an hour after kick off - there's always the local pub.

You know I jumped on the tube straight after the final whistle out of the 12 pins and started reading my copy of the Gooner and I guy opposite me who you could tell had been at the game goes 'it did finish 2-1 didn't it'.

I was so pissed off i didn't answer - wish I fabricated some 22 man brawl and spectular goal just to piss him off.

Transport this is the biggest answer to why people leave early, our stadium cannot cope with 50,000 fans wanting to get on the tubes, trains & buses & it is still the same system in what Highbury had so with the extra 20,000 added each week with no work done to increase the tube stations & what so ever expect people leaveing early & i don't blame em
When i go to a night game i end up waiting at Finsbury Park for the ol bill to open up the road to let the fans cross through to the station but the thing is i don't need the tube i want the bus but i still end up waiting 20 mins just to get through
I can admit to leaveing early for a couple of night games last season when i was getting use to the new ground in which i did miss the winner against Zagreb & also against the Spanish **** this season & the reason they i did leave was because i was getting a bollocking on the phone to get home
But i know that every week i'm paying good money to watch my side play & support them all the way even if they are losing 4-1 with a min to go i'll still be there, PSV is a fine example of fans pissing off after the goal went in but with about 10,000 fans still only in the stadium after the final whistle did go i was still there saying to myself next year
Early leaveing ain't nothing new to Arsenal as even Fever Pitch has the son & father leaveing early at Highbury to get home, when iuse to go with my Dad to Highbury it was easy as piss to get home but when i went home with him at the Emirates it was a piss take & this was the time when nobody knew what trouble it was to get home, even reporters i remember commented saying that Arsenal fans will have it hard to go home
But the Arsenal can't do anything much about it only the people down at Upper Street can put money into new projects, this is why Arsenal extra time is around & i useually attend to let the traffic die down & to have a drink (or 2) with my piss head neigbours at the emirates

Why were so many people late yesterday? :x :x I know it was an early ko but if anything that probably made it easier to get there. Loads of people arriving in the first 30 mins. Some crunt arrived 25 mins late clutching a Arsenal catering coffee cup so must have stopped to get it on the way in

It pissed me off more than normal cos it was very tense and you kept being annoyed by these wankers trying to get to their seats

The only bright spot was there were loads of twats not back for the first goal  :D
