you just described the whole brazil there mate.
I was reading that Brazil is a prospering economy and has one of the biggest reserves in oil and natural minerals, putting it alongside India as an emerging world economy. Is that true or just media propaganda selling it big with both a world cup and olympic tournaments being held there?
It's not entirely talk, the country has improved in the last 10 years or so, a new middle class was created, the economy is doing much, much better.
But on the other hand, our infra structure is shit, our public education and health systems are shameful and we have a massive housing deficit.
It's like the country was stalled since the military took over in 64' and got jolted back to life in 94' with the real. But in this 30 years most of the public institutions have failed, we had massive migration to only two cities ( Rio and São Paulo) that are now almost impossible to live in, and you can't get a train to no fucking where, because the automotive companies lobby in the 70' have shutted them off.
Long way to go before being considered a force to be reckoned, imo. No sense of nation around here, too much me, not enough us.
Of course we're better then India, but that's just because there are too many of them

Still, think in general their education is better then ours.
But if you are a geologist, engineer or something like that, you can get a good job here because there aren't any.
EDIT - Bg was talking about wealth distribution and I went for the GINI data about it. We were the 3rd most unequal country on earth with a GINI index of 54 in 2008, now we're in the botton 20 with 52.5. Just to compare, Germany is a 27, being 0 equal pay to all and 1 just one bloke with all the money.
So yeah, bottom 20 out of 180 countries is pretty shit.
