The only thing that can save Wenger or this season is to win the CL.
It won't happen but that is the only thing that would top anything else, finishing 4th and winning the FA Cup would be good, the club would market it as progress but the supporters would still want him out, winning the CL would buy him time and this season would be accepted and forgiven IMO.

Do you really long for the days of George Graham? Seriously?
Tell you something, if GG was in charge of these useless *word censored* he would at least have them playing with some passion, guts and organisation

I accept that at the end the style of football was woeful but there is a big myth about the way this current team play - we no longer play the wonderful fast flowing attractive football and are currently living off the rep previous teams have built up

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't football about winning silverware? So if Wenger wins another FA Cup (which is classed as MAJOR SILVERWARE by most supporters) you'd still want him gone?
What gives Arsenal the right to challenge for the title each and every year anyway? Spurs and Man City are on the scene challenging as well now, and Chelsea/Liverpool are taking a back seat for the time being.
You'll be back, but these things take lots of time. Wenger didn't want to lose Nasri and Fabregas, he has brought fantastic players to Arsenal over the years, blame the owners/board for not offering them big fat contracts, don't blame him.

god yes, a team who were proud to wear the cannon on there shirts, it was greed that got to george in the end but he gave us our pride back and without his famous back 4-5 wenger wouldnt have started at arsenal the way he did,Swanners wrote:Be careful what you wish for, folks.

Then you'll be going backwards, not forwards. Graham is loved by Arsenal fans and rightly so but his achievments have been extremely overrated by a lot of Gooners.
As Arsenal manager he won:
First Division (2): 1988–89, 1990–91
FA Cup (1): 1992–93
League Cup (2): 1986–87, 1992–93
FA Charity Shield (1): 1991 (shared)
UEFA Cup Winners' Cup (1): 1994
Wenger's record:
FA Premier League (3): 1997–98, 2001–02, 2003–04
FA Cup (4): 1997–98, 2001–02, 2002–03, 2004–05
FA Community Shield (4): 1998, 1999, 2002, 2004
I'm not saying Wenger is the only man for Arsenal. But what I am saying is be careful what you wish for, because you get lumbered with a manager who will be tactically out-of-his depth and will take Arsenal even further backwards than Wenger is currently doing.

I agree that the football we play now is utter shit and some people, the press and the AKBs, should wake up to that fact instead of praising the Wenger style of football. It pisses me right off when pundits go on about the "Arsenal style". They clearly have not even watched 45 minutes this season of us playing the most tedious, slow paced shit imaginable.augie wrote:Swanners wrote:Be careful what you wish for, folks.

Tell you something, if GG was in charge of these useless c**ts he would at least have them playing with some passion, guts and organisationHe would instill into them what it means to represent a club like ours and he would not tolerate c**ts just strolling around without a care in the world

Swanners your lads gave us a footballing lesson the other week and that hurt a lot. To me it summed this car crash of a season up in 90 painful minutes. Don't take this the wrong way but if any "smaller" club had tried to beat us at our own game post 2006, we would have murderd them.

Not sure if your on a wind up or not but Arsenal are one biggest clubs in the country only United and Liverpool ahead of us in those stakes so we should be showing some ambition and aim to win the league every year without fail. Its our own fault that we are in the position we are in, not Chelseas or Citys for bringning big money into the game and buying the league title. Our board and Wenger are the ones who have chosen to tighten the purse strings and rely on mediocrity to acheive 4th place finishes its got fuck all to do with not being able to match them financially, dont forget we have plaenty of money available to us too it just isnt spent becuase our board want to hold the club up as some bastions of football and leave the club in the dark ages trophy wise.Swanners wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't football about winning silverware? An amazing run?Swanners wrote:You've only got Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea to worry about in the cup. The rest of the teams I reckon Arsenal will be up for on their day.
Still way too early to write Arsenal off. Look at that amazing run you had just a few months ago, you'll come good again.
Arsenal's first 11 is still enough to put away most teams. The squad as a whole is a worry though, bit like ourselves actually.
What was so amazing about a small unbeaten run consisting mainly of draws and one goal victories???
Winning 1-0 a lot of the time was alright for you lot under GG though according to recent posts around here - most want him back as manager too!AJAAFC wrote:An amazing run?Swanners wrote:You've only got Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea to worry about in the cup. You sure you aint here on the wind up mate ?
If you want to compare records then you should also factor in the fact that GG spent less than half the time as manager of Arsenal than wenger has. As rebel has already stated, wenger would not have had his early successes were it not for the foundation of the best back line ever to play in the english league
The quip about silverware is the type of comment the akb come out with - there are only 4 silver pots to win for us each season (next season it could be 3
) so the vast majority of us do not expect trophies as a god given right. What we do expect however is that our team should continue to improve each season and if that still isnt enough to win trophies then so be it but clearly we are regressing and have been for a number of seasons now. The quality of the squad has dropped alarmingly and wenger's selections/purchases has left us devoid of any on pitch leaders. You can talk about wenger not wanting to lose cesc and nasri but how big of a part did his failure to invest in quality players contribute to them leaving ? He had 12 months to convince cesc of how ambitious the club were and he failed to do so. He is now going down that very same road with rvp where every man woman and child can see that there is no way in the world he will commit to a club that is only heading in a downward spiral and are showing no inclination to take action to change things

What load of shit you are talking. The vast majority of Gooners wish we were still at Highbury instead of the Soul-less bowlSwanners wrote:I rate Wenger as a football manager, always have done - that's all I am saying really.
I know some of you must be pissed off at recent results but without Wenger you'd still be playing long ball football and would still be at Highbury.
GG is not the answer.
George Graham gave Arsenal back its pride.Thats why Gooners love him
