Experiences with fans leaving early.

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Its a long way lol
I stayed at OT in August to the bitter end and would normally stay at every game till final whistle...i dont really know what came over me at WHL last season.....

Only time I have ever left early is last game of the season last season and the one before that. Out of protest of clapping the parade of failure.

Apart from that never left early despite any score. 8.2 or any other game apart from the 2 mentioned

Simply do not understand it

Only done it twice, both of them away, Man Utd in the cup in 2008 when we were being tanked 4-0 in the FA Cup...I left 5 minutes before the end to get the earlier train back to London. And Tottenham, also in 2008 in the League Cup Semi Final, again about 5 minutes before...missing the fifth goal, only to avoid the street party that would have been happening on the Tottenham High Road which I had no desire to be a part of. Both times I did feel a bit bad.

But when the game is in the balance I really don't understand that. Last nights winner was one of the best moments of the season, when the ball was down the other end a load of people near us started streaming out thinking it was done but one quick counter attack later and sheer bedlam. Those moments are what football and supporting Arsenal is all about.

I reckon the club should film the fans leaving through the gates and then when a goal as late as last night is scored show on the board the reactions of the early leavers lol

I have NEVER left an Arsenal game early and I NEVER will (unless its an emergency).

This season, vs Bolton in the CC my mrs wanted to leave before 5 mins early, we were 2-0 up and the game was pretty much dead, I said no, she got the arseache, we stayed, we won, I was happy. :barscarf: :D

I have only ever left early once  when we lost 6-2 to united during the 90-91 season in the league cup :banghead:

I really dont understand leaving early how much time do you actually save? Its minimal and anyone doing it should be named and shamed

The BBC were doing a local news piece on early leavers the night we played the scum in the 2nd leg league cup semi. Aliadiere had scored to give us the lead. The cameras outside were filming people leaving and asking them why they left early when there was the roar as TR7 scored the third. The early leavers were jumping up and down outside the ground as if they'd seen the goal! OK that was late due to the ET but it made me smile.

Oh, and I've never left before the end of a game. If I'm paying upwards of 50p a minute to watch a football match, I'll stay to watch them take the goals down and mow the grass!!
