You're quite right. Bought it a few years back for my Dad for its in-depth accounts of individual matches from the sixties. It really brought it back for him. It's a really good read.
The film is still really good, though. Is Colin Firth really a Gooner?
I'm not sure I read somewhere he was a Spud and over people have told me he is 100% Gooner so not to sure
Just found this...
Colin Firth off some website wrote:"I wasn't an Arsenal fan before. But I am now. I'm a shameless nouveau convert, at a time when there's a kind of nauseating gentrification of the game going on. But I didn't become a fan because it was fashionable. While making the film, the whole thing started to go way beyond the research stage. I was kind of sucked into a family. Now I'm at Highbury whenever I get the chance.
What I gained from Fever Pitch was the feeling of camaraderie when you share moments of sheer exhilaration with a crowd. It gave me a sense of belonging that I'd never properly experienced before."
that last line Colin wrote should be in a book somewhere

...should also be on every seat at the grove to make sure people understand why so many fans get upset about early leavers.
