As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

He finally got around to selecting chesney when all the "superior quality" keepers ahead of him in the pecking order (below average al, flaps) got injured at the one time so the decision was forced on him rather than it being a managerial masterstroke

Yep, lets never forget that either. On the back of one flimsy penalty save against the whipping boys of the CL group, Fabianski (the worst Arsenal keeper I have ever seen) was suddenly number 1 and the prospect of Chesney leaving the club on a free transfer was becoming more and more of a reality. Thankfully the circus clown got injured and the rest is history
Szczesny for me, and I think he is getting better every game. My only worry is holding on to him. Czech is past his best and I'm not convinced the De Gea will be consistent enough for Fergie, so if we continue to be unable to challenge for the title then his head could be turned.

from the way he speaks etc he seems to really love the club and i hope he will be number one for years to come but so many others have said things similar in the past
At this moment I would say Tim Krul is a better keeper. Chesney's distribution is erratic and I still have a few concerns over the speed of his footwork in dealing with long shots and free kicks. I wouldn't trade them though.
