Manager of the Year
Re: Manager of the Year
Lambert or Rodgers - both fantastic young managers just a shame they ain't English
Re: Manager of the Year
Has to be Harry Rednap. Watching Spurts become Londons number 1 club (with their best squad for 15 years) ,has really had me going !
Taking of Rednaps that loser Jamie is s pure prick of a pundit eh,has very strong opinions for a man who only won the league cup ?
FOYS !

Re: Manager of the Year
Tricky one. Hate to say it as the man is an utter
but obviously Pardew has to be a major contender. If (unlikely but still pretty possible) they get CL then that decides it for me, to get ahead of Spurs and Chelsea considering how long they've been back in the PL and considering they've sold "key" players (Carroll, Barton and Nolan) without spending much to replace them they've (typically and frustratingly) done amazing to be around the european places. I'll piss myself if they miss out, and Pardew is still crap and will revert to type sooner or later but for this season you have to hold your hands up and say they've got a cracking side assembled and are getting a lot of good results, we've all expected a slump and it just hasnt come, fair play.
Aside from him it'd have to be Lambert or Rodgers- its hard to bring a side up from the championship and keep them in the top flight but Norwich and Swansea look set to do it comfortably. The only thing putting them behind Pardew for me is that there is a lot of crap in the league and it maybe hasnt been as hard to survive as normal, but either way they've done a cracking job.
And Ferguson, as always- big spending Man City looked set to romp to the title after the result at Old Trafford and United looked to have their weakest side in years with very few real stand out world class stars. He has somehow galvanised them, bringing Scholes back has ended up being a masterstroke, and Mancini has simply crumbled under the pressure. Absolute respect for the bloke, what he has done is yet again impressive as hell.
Been a canny season this tbh (much though I now just want it to end and cant be arsed with the rest of our games), the relegation battle should be gripping.

I think Rodgers would be a good successor to AW, he plays the passing game AND knows how to get his defenders to actually defend....1989 wrote:Lambert or Rodgers - both fantastic young managers just a shame they ain't English
Re: Manager of the Year
I wonder if/when twitchy f**ks off to manage his country will pardew be a contender to take over the scum ? I know he is doing a good job in geordieland and has total backing and support from the club and the fans but he is a cockney right ? Would he view the scum as a step up ? When the tax dodger f**ks off it could spark a major domino effect in managerial musical chairs

Rodgers has to deal with the difficult second season firstly, i can imagine Swansea struggling next season and its then that we will see what a good (or bad) manager he is. Also the way Wenger is going i could see Rodgers retiring before he doesOneBardGooner wrote:I think Rodgers would be a good successor to AW, he plays the passing game AND knows how to get his defenders to actually defend....1989 wrote:Lambert or Rodgers - both fantastic young managers just a shame they ain't English

yeah, we've seen many managers lauded before disappearing off the face of the earth (taking over at Palace)flash gunner wrote:Rodgers has to deal with the difficult second season firstly, i can imagine Swansea struggling next season and its then that we will see what a good (or bad) manager he is. Moyes for me, it's amazing how good everton are in the table with such a shit team, and they might nick a cup final form their rivals as staying above them in the league, which i believe is a title for everton these days.

I'll grant you they are a bit weak upfront- Jelavic, Stracqualarsi and Anichebe isnt the most fearsome of striking options in the league, and there isnt a huge amount of strength in depth but I think it is incredibly harsh to label them "shit". In terms of first team in particular, I would put them about 6-8th in the league (behind Man United, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs and comparable to Liverpool and Newcastle) so to see them sitting around 7th in the league and getting to a cup semi final doesnt surprise me in the slightest. What surprises me is that Moyes is still unable to get them performing in the first half of a season, he cant keep underperforming in the first half of the season and not expect criticism, far from manager of the year for me. They're a very good side though and I'm quite surprised that anyone would underestimate them to the point of branding them shit

This might just be because they beat SAFC every fucking time we play and we havent got a win over them for about 10 years like, but still, they're blatantly a good side with a lot of very good PL players

They don't tend to spend a load of money like but they're far, far from a "shit" team. Howard is a very good keeper, Baines is one of the best left backs in the league, Neville isn't wonderful but is a very experienced pro who, imo, adds a lot to their side, Heitinga and Distin are a very good central defensive partnership, Fellaini is utter class and would walk into most sides in the league, Cahill is always a threat from set pieces and can pop up with a goal (albeit he hasnt done it as often this season), Osman is a good little player, Drenthe is a huge prospect, Jelavic was class north of the border and looks capable of doing very well in the prem, Gueye is a good prospect, Steven Pienaar is quality, Rodwell is a good prospect when fit.

Probably misworded myself there, i meant that they are far from a strong side, apart from an ok eleven they really have no one else. Don't think they are, on paper at least, much better then Villa or even Sunderland. And in the season where they lost their star player, they still fight up top against far richer teams, to me that's amazing.
Agree with you that they are always really slow starters and that really looks like Moyes' own fault.

Not the Coach of the Decade then, who may still live to achieve his 'fourth place trophy' for the umpteenth season in a row and whose managerial genius can not be betteredRed Member wrote:ROBERTO MARTINEZ
