Craig Eastmond is 21 now and has hardly been given a chance in the first team. I would love to know what kind of wages this kid is on as surely its clear by the age of 21 that he isnt Arsenal quality and he is right down the pecking order in the middle of the park.Rosie_titters wrote:Deise Gooner wrote:Gavin Hoyte released too, an awful lot of our promising youngsters end up in the lower leagues its scary yet Wenger talks them up as the future of the club.
well he's older brother, creamed the club for a few thousand, before the dopey bastards, realised he was shit and sold him for £1m to Middlesboro
why do we always seem to give these players 4 or 5 years to prove themselves - before letting them go for virtually eff all..
look at Vela - joins Arsenal, goes out on loan to spain, come's back, goes out on loan to WBA, comes back again gets RVP number 11 shirt, goes out on loan to spain again
surely the penny will drop, this bloke will never be a regular first teamer at Arsenal

Re: ALMUNIA
The 1st god bit of news since the end of the season. The amount of times I wanted to scream "NEAR POST" at this goon whilst inflicting minor physical violence against his person is very high indeed.
On your way son, cheers. Quite how a number 2 keeper ever became our 1st choice beggars belief.
PS Craig Eastmond would strugle to get in Barnet's 1st team - I'd sack him too.

Re: ALMUNIA
Agreed, and we did this with the likes of Jay Simpson and Mark Randall too. FFS - when they've been loaned out to a fourth club and hit 21 surely the idea should be that they are ready. Trouble is that Eastmond has found his level at Wycombe but until his existing contract runs out he will be on wages that clubs at that level can't affordDeise Gooner wrote:Craig Eastmond is 21 now and has hardly been given a chance in the first team. Re: ALMUNIA
Thats the problem with our wage structure, it rewards poor players with inflated wages but we wont pay for quality at the top. Its the main reason why we couldnt shift Bendtner and Denilson last summer, after all who would pay those dopes 60,000 a week. I cant see how you can justify that and would love Wenger to try and justify it.SteveO 35 wrote:Agreed, and we did this with the likes of Jay Simpson and Mark Randall too. Re: ALMUNIA
Take Bendtner as the prime example. The club announced he had signed a long term deal in September 2009 - this was the deal that prompted the shirt change to number 52 and the rumour that that was his weekly earnings.
Now I'll stand corrected but if he really was given a 5 year deal on 52k per week, it was done on the back of 44 starting appearances to that point, 12 of which were in the Beer Cup and FA Cup. So effectively less than one season of PL appearances and the guy is on £2.5m+ per annum guaranteed for 5 years. A couple of years later is it any wonder he wanders around with that attitude of his and why nobody wants to sign him permanently on those wages ?

Re: ALMUNIA
He was a good shot stopper. Useless at positioning and coming out for crosses/not coming out for crosses.
And, as has been been pointed out on many occasions.....it's not his fault that he was selected to play.
He's had a good few years being paid fortunes. We would all do the same if we could.

Re: ALMUNIA
Never forgive him for:
- Breaking my heart in 2006
- Single handedly losing us the "The Battle of Highbury"
- Letting a shot go through his legs in the CC final
- Conceding the softest goal I've ever seen at Birmingham
- Making a balls of Danny Rose's shot
- Gifting West Brom 4 points last season to keep them up (Fulop has returned the favor I guess)
- Conceding a free kick from 45 yards in the CL semi final
- Conceding 4 at Liverpool to knock us out of the CL
- Dropping the ball in front of Dirk Kuyt to give Liverpool the lead
- Letting Micah Richards' looping header go in off his head after hitting the post
- Punching Nani's cross into his own net
- Conceding 7(!) goals in total at the Nou Camp
Plus countless more which I can't bother to list.
Farewell to the worst starting goalkeeper I've ever seen in all my time supporting the club.

Splitting hairs because be under no illusions, he was far from good enough to be a regular no.1 at Arsenal but the stuff I've highlighted there I don't believe was down to him.1989 wrote:Never forgive him for:

Softest goal at Birmingham? Fuck me, watch Fabianski's effort in Porto - the first defied belief but the second ! And there's an endless list of Flapper classics. The 4 he conceded at Anfield throwing away Arshavin's magic were woeful - 2 of them directly his fault, and I'll never ever forgive his ineptitude for that 5-1 hammering at the Lane in the Beer Cup - the goals he conceded to Keane and Jenas were so pathetic I'd have backed Almunia or Mannone to have saved them with their eyes closed
As I said though splitting hairs somewhat but I'll only truly celebrate him leaving once I know that fuckwit Fabianski has followed him out of the door and Mannone too. All of three of them had their chances and blew it. Sign someone like Gordon or Jaaskelainen as a back-up and give the young Martinez lad a chance in the Beer Cup
Re: ALMUNIA
I agree with you on Flappy he's even worse. Hope he follows the Spanish clown through the exit door.
Arguing on who made the worse mistakes between the two is pointless, ultimately they're both utter pish and should've been fucked off moons ago, if not for our hilariously incompetent manager.

Re: ALMUNIA
Glad you mentioned this. sp*rs only had six shots on goal in the whole match. Five went in. One hit the post. Thank you Flappy.SteveO 35 wrote:Splitting hairs because be under no illusions, he was far from good enough to be a regular no.1 at Arsenal but the stuff I've highlighted there I don't believe was down to him.1989 wrote:Never forgive him for:
