As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I think they've all been covered here...Paris, Villa Park, etc...
Which defeat hurt the least? Easy - The 8-2 against man u, cos we'd already played our big game earlier that week

I have to say of all the defeats covered on this thread the 8-2 was
by far the most embarrassing of the lot

That's the only game I've never seen the goals from. I don't remember anything of the game and am really quite glad of it

Nothing like a 'when did supporting Arsenal make you want to kill yourself' thread to cheer one up.
All of the above plus:
First time I cried when we lost - Dirty Leeds in the FAC final, then West Ham, Ipswich, Wrexham, York, Swindon ...
If AW has done one thing, he's at least stopped us losing to lower league dross all the time.

Valencia 1980 was terrible as well. Why did Brady decide to have a 'mare!?

Joe,
Do West Brom and QPR count as lower league dross?

And SF 1999
The scum 4-4 was an absolute ball breaker as well

My top 5, everyone loves a list:
1.Barcelona, Champions League Final 2006
2.Chelsea, Champions League Quarter Final 2004
3.Liverpool, Champions League Quarter Final 2008
4.Real Zaragoza, European Cup Winners Cup Final 1995
5.Manchester United, FA Cup Semi Final 1999
Barcelona is top because we were 15 minutes away from being crowned champions of Europe. I was convinced we were going to win what with it being in Paris, our final season at Highbury and being able to go to our new home as European Champions, Bergkamps retirement and the fact we hadn't conceded a goal in Europe for months before hand. I feel if we had won that game the club would be very different now. Henrys chance at 1-0 is what hurts the most.
Zaragoza was my first experience in realising how painful football can be at 9 years old, at that age you think you're going to win every game and after experiencing Parma the year before I was more convincing myself of how many it could be. The reality that you lose cup finals was hard to take.
Honourable mentions go to the 4-4 against Tottenham, being 2-0 up to Tottenham and losing 3-2, losing the League Cup Final to Birmingham, Eduardos leg breaker, Almunia punching it into his own net in injury time against Birmingham, losing to Leeds after Diawara hit the post 15 times in 99 and O'Leary tainting his name. For some reason the 2001 Cup Final or the defeat to Galatasary were annoying but not the scale of the others. I was out the country for both of them and so couldn't even watch them (pre internet and streaming) so for some reason hearing about it over the phone doesn't make it as bad.!

1. Nayim. That c***.
2. Chavs QF. Wenger the ultimate bottler.
3. Mickeys FA Cup final 2000. Robbed by Scousers, wholda thought?
All compensated for by our third place trophy this season though

You mean there's evidence of me getting pissed at football
Nah.
I knew we were going to get absolutely murdered by United so I thought I'd join the team in getting hammered

Any defeat to those knobs in N17 hurts...last season losing 2-3 after leading 2-0..... Nothing beats a gloating Scum fan, nothing!
