I agree - the guy has taken over from diaby as the face of everything I hate about the modern day Arsenal

In fairness, Song has made advances this season. The expectations on him, as usual, are perhaps beyond what he is capable of. The guy thinks he has got to go marauding forwards all the time so perhaps we need to look at the genius who is coaching him to understand his faults. He certainly looked better when Arteta was in the team and provided some experience to the side.

For those of you who like their stats.......song committed the 3rd highest number of fouls in the league last season - and yet some clowns think that he is a good tackler    :banghead:

If this lazy fat arsed clumsy oaf is our 2nd best player then the rest must be worse than shit   :banghead:
Sadly very true. If he is amongst the continent's finest as the article claims, I am sure it will not be long before Real Madrid, Inter, Barcelona come calling for him – if only!!

And all of those fouls are stupid, dangly leg, pointless, middle of the field, gormless attempts at taking the ball. The pundits reckon he is a class player. What are they seeing that we don't?

Song is a brilliant player - if you're a casual watcher of Arsenal or generally unknowledgable on football matters. A slightly bold and probably rude statement, and for that I apologize, but I do feel it's true.

Song is your typical highlight reel player. He makes a bunch of bullshit lob passes and Van Persie buries them. Firstly, Song has the fortunate ability to play with a striker capable of making good on difficult, low-percentage balls. Secondly, Song's hollywood pass completion rate is middling at best. A lot of times those turnovers cost us possession, break up attacks, result in counterattacks etc - this is not really appreciated by someone who doesn't watch a lot of football.

The more Arsenal you watch, the less you'll surely come to like Alex Song. In form, he's outstanding, but he rarely plays with that level of completeness that he's capable of. Particularly defensively, he comes across as slightly lazy and positionally unaware and it's only by the intervention of quality centres - like Arteta and Cesc - that stops us from being ripped apart by his lapses. There is a significant reason we have far higher winning percentages with those two in the team, and I believe it's as much due to their midfield covering as it is for their offensive abilities.

To be fair think this stat is a bit misleading in that most of these were probably "professional" fouls, around half way, to break up play when we're under pressure. personally felt we were missing this a bit overall while other teams did it to us as an art form. Song gets a lot of stick on here, some well out of order. for me is a good defensive midfielder that has shown he has a bit more creativity than being lumped as "holding midfielder", could be a better player if a genuine DM was bought in to play alongside.

I doubt Mr Song has the intelligence to be able to deliberately make a 'professional foul'!! It's nearly always because he gets himself caught square on as his reading of the game is akin to someone who is illiterate and his reaction time/movement is slower than a snail that's had concrete added on top of it's shell to slow it down!!
