Frank, you know as well as I do that “the regular match going gooners home and away are still way off of full protest”

I travel around with about 300 gooners every away game, and even within those 300 there is still a divide. These are not keyboard warriors or JCL’s but long term arsenal fans of different ages that travel home and away every game. There is stil even a difference of opinion within the HERD over this very issue. Many wanting protest but others wanting to kick off if they hear talk of it. The way BSM handles the protest before the villa game was testament to the followers they have. Many old school fans came out the woodwork for that day and it had credibility in numbers. So much so that even the die hard akb’s came along and supported the concept of the march,

These are the kind of people the need to protest in order for the club to take note. The loud hardcore fans protesting. Its all well and good having media protests with plenty of twats that don’t go games, or some little kids that have no credibility but unless the hardcore protest it wont work.

I could easy arrange a protest with the amount of gooners I know but many will back down due to the grief they will get from other mates and more influential fans that wont accept the idea of protest.

Basically you cant win and we have to accept that no matter what happens protest wont happen unless its endorsed by AST, BSM or another credible influential group of fans that youngers will look up too.
Good post Mikey and youre spot on no protest will work without a supporter group backing and while they are cosy with the club that'll never happen

This subject keeps resurfacing. My thoughts on the potential methods as follows:

Protest - I think the march outside the stadium before the Villa game enjoyed a strong turnout and was fairly successful in getting attention on Arsenal fans websites and forums however the press showed little interest. I feel a more substained effort - several marches over a season would be needed to get a decent amount of media attention. Also the banner used that day "Let's Kick Greed Out Of Football" sent out a message that could be interpretated in many ways - was it meant to be anti-greed within Arsenal? Or football in general? The message needs to be more specific and easy for the media to understand.

Chanting - Definitely a big part of any demonstration or protest! An interesting alternative was proposed for the Wolves v Sunderland game in December - fans protesting to "Take Back The Game" declared that both sets of fans should remain silent (no singing, clapping, chanting, no noise whatsoever) for the opening ten minutes, in a protest “against rising ticket prices, sanitised stadiums and ridiculous kick-off times”. However it bombed as clearly not all fans in the ground were in on it and there was clearly plenty of noise being made as normal.

Boycott - Voting with your feet is normally the most obvious solution. But with 200,000 members I'm sure we are all fully aware home games will almost always sell out regardless of any boycott. Also general sale, day trippers and tourists will mean games will pretty much always sell out regardless of a boycott. Also the club is happy to announce a crowd of 60,000 when there are clearly thousands of empty seats anyhow.

Banner - As mentioned, must be more specific eg, "Wenger/Kronke/Gazidis Out"

Threats - Think in this day and age this isn't really realistic.

Vandalism / Law Breaking - See above, although burning down The Armoury shop might be a big statement!

I think a substained and regular protest is an absolute must. The black bin liner protest made the Daily Mirror before the Blackburn game, but after a 7-1 route with a RVP hat-trick, two goals from the next big thing AOC and a Thierry Henry cameo goal, the protest was not newsworthy anymore.

On a slower news day or if we had lost that game to Blackburn I'm sure the protest would have enjoyed much more media attention and may have encouraged something bigger.

Through my work with supporter groups I can say with a degree of assurance and knowledge that this will not happen from any group but BSM and REDaction; both of the other groups are too pro-Wenger and pro-leadership for this to happen - unfortunately this leads to a degree of cosiness with the club because they want nothing more than to be cosy with the club. It's quite frustrating. :banghead:

And all the more reason why these useless, achieve nothing waste of time groups should disband with haste cos at the end of the day they serve no purpose except to allow those "inside the tent" (© tim stillman ast  ) to pat themselves on the back for achieving such an honourable position

The thing is augie i think that they think they are doing best for their members and supporters in general. As we were saying earlier i would think the majority agree with their position. Why disband under those circumstances?

I have protesed with BSM and have boycotted the Club's home game for 3 years now. Arsenal PLC won't change untill the owners/management changes that will only happen when their profits dry up :-P

Attend Away games and boycott all home matches, don't give Kronke & Co your cash :cussing:

The Day Trippers and Corporate Fan Base will migrate to the European Champions on the KIngs Road

I won't do any of the six methods...I think it's a silly poll and feel that there is no real point in this...after all the club don't give a shit about what the fans think and if you did protest or stop buying the gear....someone will fill your place....

So as for the vote...I will continue to follow the club through its cancer and pray the medicine will arrive.
