we could be back to playing with two of them - maybe podolski and giroud?

we went for the 4-3-3 because it allowed cesc more space, and also because RvP always worked best on his own up front, he's made for the role.

so why stick with it now? maybe it's time to think the team from scratch again

Totally agree - the system was an excellent change at the time - Cesc and Song had great seaons that year as it brough out the best in them. It could even work in Europe, or when JW is back....but at the end of last season i was screaming out for a change in formation - especially when we dont have the ball.

That was my thought. but then if he is shite then we've lost his high transfer value.

Wherever Theo plays it has to be on the shoulder of the last defender so he doesn't have time to think. which is typically only going to be European or away games.

for Home games, the two big lads need to get forward so santos and Bac can launch balls into them, and force the opposition to defend deeper and have ox and jack pick up the scraps.

now with all honesty, and this has no more knowledge into it than football manager thinking and a few beers: since we have a fantastic wing back in andre santos, why not play three centrebacks, sagna and santos wide, three central midfielders like we do, and giroud/podolski up front?

since we're shit we could at least play in a shit formation like 3-5-2 as well

fair enough. i do think that teams that play like that offer too little in terms of width though (just look at italy in the euros, they would be nothing without the quality passing of pirlo, de rossi, montolivo), but in my eyes it would surely be worth a try.

i wonder if arsene even bothers to try new formations in training. i mean it seriously!
