Now the Champions League thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

If we draw any of those teams, I will probably try to get tickets for the away game. :barscarf:
Blimey we get a combination of those teams in the group we'll struggle

That would be my ideal draw - get the fcuk out of a competition that we have no hope of winning and leave us free to concentrate on the league where I envisage us having a real battle to get top 4. It would also free us up for a run at the fa cup which would be a cup that we could win if wenger doesn't insult us all by putting out our reserves again
disagree about no hope
any team than can get out of the group can win it with a bit of luck
also why do you care about top 4 if you want us straight out...?

1st game at home, get us off to a good start - Citeh away after is tough and I'll have just come back from a couple of weeks in Brazil so won't fancy travelling
2nd game away somewhere near Amsterdam or Berlin suits my diary
Lyon at anytime suits my belly (Michelintastic)
I want game 6 be a dead rubber as I'll be in Miami

Scenario goes like this

Win 1st 3 games easy then need only 1 pt to qualify or 3 more pts to top group then last 2 games play understrength team lose last 2 games sneak thru in 2nd place by the skin of our teeth and then because we we played understrength team in last 2 games we end up playing barca/ac milan get knocked out then repeat every season while wenger is in charge.

Wake the fuck up we are never going to win the CL while he is in charge.

PS rumours thread is 200 pages :barscarf:

I'm in the US for pretty much all of September so first group game at home would be nice, would prefer not to miss an away!

My preferences would be;
Pot 2: Zenit would be my first choice. Really want to go there but got a feeling that with flight & visa costs I might not be able to afford it :( Valencia would be second choice then, I need to visit Mestalla before they move stadiums. Benfica would be cool, Lisbon is a lovely city. Dynamo Kiev woulda been one of my top choices but not now they're playing in that horrific new Olympic Stadium.

Pot 3: Panathinaikos first choice. Love footy in Greece, their fans are mental. Ajax would be OK but a bit too "commercial" & "popular" for me. Juve, one of the few decent new stadiums. Would be nice to visit. And couldn't scoff at a trip to Spartak although again, costs may rule that one out.

Pot 4: Probably Montpellier as first choice, although BATE would be good as I love the Dynamo Minsk stadium where they play CL games. The kinda trip that wouldn't attract thousands of mongs as well. Galatasaray would be OK, their new stadium is horrible though. Doesn't have even 5% of the intimidation factor that Ali Sami Yen had. Dortmund, didn't get to do it with Arsenal last year but have been there for Bundesliga. Probably the perfect football stadium, wouldn't turn my nose up at another trip there.

I have no interest in the draw and will be selling my tickets and watching it on.tv this year.

Hate the CL now, seeing John Terry in shin pads lift that Cup
was the final straw.

I know we will not compete in it and are just making up the numbers, would rather sell the tickets and have a cheaper ticket next year.

Thanks to the arsehole that is Wenger, the pleasure of being London's first winners of the competition has passed, also it's a competition we'll never win with the same arsehole in charge, so really, I don't give a flying fuck about the CL, they can stick the prize money that we'll get for getting to the quarter final's up their money grabbing arse.

How do you figure that out?? Wenger should definitely have won it with his 2002 and 2004 teams, that was before RA came onto the scene..
