The 'Why dont we have a cricket thread?' Thread

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Am playing today, 2pm start, probably finish 7:30-8, played last sat, sun and Wednesday in a 20/20 game.

I've always played the game since I played for my town in the colts when I Was 13, it always reminds me of days out with my Dad (god bless him) who died when I was fairly young, he played for the town and I loved watching him and just being with him.

By the time I was 14 I used to get the odd game for the men's side if a player didn't turn up (thus always wishing someone wouldn't turn up). When I was 17 me and Dad used to open the batting together, never had I been prouder.

Sorry if that is a bit of a life story there, but just thats what cricket is for me, I love team sports, the banter and camaraderie, me and Dad also played footie for the town, at different times obviously :)

Play any sport for as long as you can, it doesn't matter what level it's at, no use looking back on your life and regretting not playing more sport with your mates.

Felt this thread needed to be revived in light of the efforts of England's middle- & lower-order batsmen :barscarf:

Richie Benaud's cameo on Cricket 97 (Ashes Tour Edition) was absolutely brilliant, even though it was only confined to commenting on the toss.
