I think it will (and should) be Vermaelen. Had a half-decent run without injury at last last year, has made lots of noises about being AFC for life so not likely to follow RvP out the door (ha), one of the only players you'd say has some leadership qualities. Also the complete dearth of suitable candidates other than him.

I refuse to vote on grounds that said player will be turning out for Shitty/Chavs/Barca/AN other club with ambition(Not the slowly dying f***ing AFC) come 2013/2014 season.

Song Rosicky and Mertesacker :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Song fucking hopeless,Rosicky 5 good games in 4 years and Mertesacker the oil tanker who will not be a starter

Wenger will give the captaincy to the player who is leaving next summer

Who gives a fuck? Wenger will probably give it to Chamakh and I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest

Varmaelen for me with Sagna as vice-captain. Problem is one is a crock and the other has a nasty habit of breaking his leg recently.

Quite worrying though as I can't think of any other outstanding candidates.

Jack, bring some value back to the role, someone that will respect what it means to represent, van Persie was like this but his mind was made up before the season started I'm guessing, he always dodged the questions, we know why now.

Does it matter who our captain is? He'll be gone next year and we'll have a new one, rinse repeat.

Wenger is a disgrace for using the Arsenal captaincy armband as merely a tool to flatter wantaway players into staying put. Tony Adams and Frank McLintock once wore that armband, Arsene you twat.

i think the "whoever we name captain will be sold next summer" joke is not very smart to be honest - the truth is that we sell our best players every season, in the last two it was just a coincidence that our captain was also our best footballer.

i'd vote vermaelen and arteta (vice). hard workers, reasonable experience, and all that.

This.

It does not instil confidence in other players.
