Was shocked to see the results of this poll regarding where Stoke would finish this season. Seems they are more pessimistic than we are.

Then again I voted more than once, you can too.

I just can't see how we're going to score? Girourd and Podolski look terrible players.

That's a bit like saying the Titanic wasn't a very good ship (after just one voyage)!...and oh! errrrmmmmm

Seriously though - It is unrealistic to start judging them after ONE Game......there will be all kinds of arguments about the Pro's and Con's - they need time etc...they should hit the ground running etc....I was working yesterday am, so didn't get to see the start of the game...but, Cazorla is a 'Natural Player with Innate talent' and could well end up being our best player - along with JW. Podolski and Giroud showed small glimpses of good play...yes Giroud missed a chance the dutch *word censored* would usually have burioed....but it was his forst game.

We have to give them a chance

I mean when was the last time any of us went to work and didn't make a mistake at least once a day !? :rubchin:

Some people thought Gervinho did well - yes and No...because he beats a player or three...then seems to go dizzy and spoil what he has just done
Diaby - he will need to improve 1,000% over the next couple of games - I'll give him a chance because he has been out looooooong time injured...but if he continues with his old lacklustre - turn this way that way beat the same player 4 times then give the ball away, well....THEN let him have it both barrels.

@OBG

I guess you can use that line of argument, but I can already see excuses starting in september/october how Girourd is going to need a season to adopt to Premiership etc etc Can anyone see any of our strikers scoring more than 10 -15 goals this season?

Honestly, that Sunderland team looked pretty weak to me, yet we couldn't score, somehow can't see our striking force coming good at Stoke of all places. Hope I'm wrong.

Maybe I just can't get over fact that ManUre just came and took our best player with such an ease

Remember when Henry came and just couldn't score in his first few games? He went on to score quite a lot that year, judging a player after 45m nins in pre season and a 25min run out yesterday is shocking.

the Shittania is the only Prem ground I've been to but not seen us win at
not been to the Liberty, seen us win everywhere else
I can't make it this year (that place is such a shithole) so we're guaranteed a win...

Can you honestly see any of our strikers hitting 12+ goals this season?

I think if we're going to do well this season (as in: fight for 4th spot), our defence needs to improve immensly. Hopefuly Steve Bould will have some kind of impact on that.

at least two Arsenal players will score a dozen or more goals this season (better 2nd top scorer than last year)
happy to take a wager on that

and 'terrible players'? on what basis?
presumably their debuts: 60 mins for one, 30 for the other (can't be on last season - which got them their big moves)
IMO each looked no worse than Henry did on his debut (or first 4/5 games for that matter)

For clarity, I think skipper is saying he can't see any of our strikers (Podolski, Giroud, Chamakh, Park and Bendtner, as it stands) scoring 12+ goals... and I assume he means league goals.

Your bet refers to any player, not strikers.... and does your 12+ goals include cups? or just the league?

Anyway, I think at least one of our strikers will definitely score 12+ goals in the league. It would be strange if they didn't, so I think skipper will be proved wrong. They'll always get chances the way we play.

we play 4-3-3
I'm saying at least 2 of the players who play in the 3 forward positions will get a dozen goals in the Prem,
I think in some games that will include Cazorla and possibly even Wilshere (more likely if Feo really is off)

I also think the two players skipper has decided are terrible (on 2/3rds + 1/3rd of a game) will each get there in all comps
as G88ner says the way we play our strikers will get chances

Thanx @gooner88, I did mean 12+ league goals.

As I said in post earlier, I hope to be proven wrong.

I quite enjoy Stoke.
Plenty of edge, atmosphere, banter. Up close and personal with the Stokies. Not much choice for drinkies though.
