Are we really that outnumbered by the AKBs?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

This site has and has been for years the refuge of the negative people there are some that beggar belief !

The malcontents fall into two sub categories ranging from anti Wenger to anti board and then degrees of both .
There are some anti board who think that Wenger has done a great job there are those who feel he is part of the problem not the solution.

Without some sort of Unity of purpose any protest movement campaign will flounder .

I do not feel that there are anywhere near 30 percent of solid "Wenger Outs" in the match attending fans ,although since I only attend a few a year now I cannot state that as fact !

I know there many that feel he is past his sell by date and should be replaced sooner or later (2014) ,but many of those are not passionately behind his removal as a remedy for all our ills !

I agree with Quartz. I think the anti-Wenger segment is at maximum 30%, probably still 20% or less. We think its higher because of the sentiment on here. This is probably the only Gooner website that carries any force of feeling against Wenger.

The reaction to the Arshavin substitution was borne more out of frustration that the Ox was being taken off and has become a fans favourite. He was causing United problems and was replaced by the laziest fucker in town and we lost as a result of it. However, you only needed to be at any of the games on the unbeaten run that followed or indeed at any victory (take Sunday) to hear the "There's Only One Arsene Wenger" chrorus ringing out. Try giving Wenger some stick at a home game and see what happens - you'll be hugely outnumbered trust me

As I referred to on the 'Wenger points of view' thread next Summer will really bring home what the split is between the AKBs and the Wenger Out brigade. If he is offered a new 2-3 year contract I don't expect to see a protest march with sufficient numbers saying 'Wenger must go' and berating the board. However, if he isn't then expect more 'Real fans have real patience' nonsense and perhaps a re-hash of the "who'd heard of Fabregas and Nasri..." banners displayed with pride amongst much public wailing that the end of Arsene FC is nigh.

Even though I am firmly in the Arsene out brigade, the issue is that we haven't had a full blown disaster under Wenger (like when Liverpool finished seventh and Benitez was sacked). It seems he does enough to be comfortable in his job without striving to achieve the maximum possible. If you ask non Arsenal fans whether they think there are problems at the club the vast majority of them would say no but then I've asked the odd Manc or Chelski fan if they think it is better for their club that Wenger stays or leaves and they all pretty much agree they'd rather he stays as whilst he is in the job we aren't going to be serious challengers for the major trophies.

So as a club we are basically in no mans land, in the grand scheme of things we could be a lot worse but not everyone is convinced it can be much better. For me it has made the club predictable and that is not exciting. This season will be another one where we will go on runs of good results, have the odd really bad patch and probably end up making top four without threatening at the end of the season.

I'm not a Wenger hater (although he frustrates the hell out of me) but I do believe that a) there are managers who could do more the resources we have and b) I'd rather we took the risk of replacing him and therefore risked becoming worse than the continued predictable comfort zone we've been in for many years now.

The situation will never arise that the majority of gooners world wide turn on him unless he has a complete disaster, he has too much history with the club for people to turn on him for what many consider minor failings.

If only we had an ambitious board...

I've always said that those people who are sceptical are in the overwhelming minority.

I can see from where the majority are coming, I just happen to see things differently, including the motivation of the owner, the board and the manager over the last 7-8 years.

I said on another thread those who think Wenger is going anywhere in 2014 dream on.He achieved a top 4 finish and made a profit in the transfer window. That is all Kroenke requires from him.Trophies are no longer a requirement for an Arsenal manager to achieve. Its sad but the majority who attend games have agreed with Wenger when he says 4th is a trophy that is why there are no protests

Another Wenger bashing thread.....yawn.......

Good to see the mods doing there jobs and locking up threads that are replications of others!!!....would have thought there would have been enough scope in the Arsene Wenger Points of View thread for people to express their views on whether the AKB's were in the majority or not!!

Don't quite understand how you've come to that conclusion when the majority of the thread is not about bashing Wenger.

You might as well have said "oh, another thread about Iguana poo"

 :D
