Poor old Andre.

Re: Arshavin available on a free ????
Few Russian clubs want him as he is now a public hate figure at home after his comments after Russia's exit from the Euro's.
Like many players at Arsenal he was rarely played in the role he favours .
Getting him off the wage roll would be a touch even for free !

Re: Arshavin available on a free ????
Lads to give him away on a free would be absolutely criminal especially when you consider how sub standard shite like bendtner, djouru and denilson are still on the wage bill and how wenger also allowed below average al, song and eboue remain on the wage bill for years

Re: Arshavin available on a free ????
I will always be grateful to the little fella for giving the club a huge lift when he signed and being the catalyst behind a top four finish that season. Produced some great stuff...
...but his fitness, attitude and performances have been shocking for nearly 2 years now. He needs to write a new chapter somewhere else. Agree with comments above though - how the club have allowed it to get to the situation where he could be available for free is a joke.

Re: Arshavin available on a free ????
Like many have said, I would prefer to get a fee for him, but the most important thing is that he goes, and if this can only be done on a free then I will still be delighted to see the back of the lazy, fat fucker. The alternative is to pay him millions to loiter around the club like a bad smell for another year.
Re: Arshavin available on a free ????
can't wait for him to say his goodbyes.
The ridiculous excuses people put forward for terrible perormances..
The puffing and pointing because he doesn't want the ball anymore
Some of the poorest performances i've seen from a player.
I said sell him over a year ago, we've gained nothing keeping him. Now clubs have realised that he quite poor and now nobody wants him!
Arshavin was worse than Eboue, and lol, Song is at Barca doing quite well, Arshavin will be lucky to play at WBA or Sporting Lisbon.

My imagination runs riot when I think we offloaded Song, apparently for having a stocking work rate and/or crap training attitude. Sometimes the ill-founded call Wenger makes, really leaves me bewildered and must surely damage players.SteveO 35 wrote:I will always be grateful to the little fella for giving the club a huge lift when he signed and being the catalyst behind a top four finish that season. His basically not a winger, but would he of been better through the middle?

More or less agree with this one. Never looked the same player after Russia missed the WC, and I think he was slightly mismanaged by being placed on the wing and expected to track back - that's just not who he is as a player.RNTGOONER wrote:I would say his form dropped after Russia failed to make the World cup with him as captain, he seemed to not forgive himselfmcdowell42 wrote:Arshavin started to be come less interested in playing when the tax rate in england rose few years back and he had to, i think, start paying 50% tax rate because he earned over a certain amount. If i remember right there was lk he wanted to get a payrise to cover what he paid extra in tax at the time.
TBF he took a pay cut to join us and gasprom would have paid him Eto money to play for one of thier clubs if he wanted it as he was a legend in russia at the time we signed him, and was a pretty handy player as well, so I am not sure if he is that motivated by money in a greddybayore mould, but he certainly has gone down hill.
l also dont think he ever had the stamina to play Wide in the premiership, still think there is a classy central playmaker in him but we have the little spanish dude for that now.
Regardless, he will not go down as "money well spent" overall but he was sensational for a while and we'd be daft to act like there wasn't a time when he was the favorite player of many of us. 4 goals at Anfield was a historic moment for any Arsenal player; his arrival in January that season boosted the team (and the fans) immensely for the remainder of the campaign; and his finish against Barcelona was the class needed for a fantastic 2-1 win.
I think hate is a strong word to use in his case... I personally think that "disappointed" would be a little more apt. If by some small miracle he returned to form though, what a boost he could be. I'd almost give him a game or two at attacking midfield just to see if it's possible. At this point though one has to suspect his match fitness and first touch aren't near competitive-level ready though...

OK, let's look on the bright side. As a recognised 'striker', surely he would keep Theo out of the middle, wouldn't he........please

Re: Arshavin available on a free ????
The lardshavin has effectively retired from International Football as Fabio Capella will only pick players who play,he seems to be at ease with this as he apparently turned down a move to Zenit or Moscow at the last min ,but it wasn't over money !
His wife has just had a kid in August so perhaps he feels more comfortable at home in the UK where he isn't expected to be chosen to play and wont have to listen to the Russian press attack him week after week,he's just opted out.
As Wenger is unlikely to even put him in the squad unless there are injuries he will have the added bonus of having his weekends off in order to play the loving father.
So in effect he is in semi retirement @ Arsenal too ,and on 75,000 quid per week !
If you work out his sign on fee which was paid upfront it actually works out at 150,000 per week
Large Vodka's and Caviar all round !
