Re: New Poster
Mate I pointed this out on Goonersweb, but the average fan doesn't know about heysel let alone scousers climbing the walls at wembley. Mind you I remember playing pool in 1987 first game of the season, I was in the clock end, there must have been half a dozen gooners on the roof of the north bank, madness.SPARKSY wrote:Don't we just. I mean, they never used to turn up mob handed and pissed at big games without tickets and try to get in for free. And the film of them climbing up the outside of Wembley at the 86 Cup Final must be a fake. They are such top supporters.nut flush gooner wrote:Evening all, after many years of buying the fanzine thought i'd register for the forum after getting pissed off with the retards on Goonersweb, who today are up a scouser's backside because he read the lord justice taylor report from front to back and is preaching about how it wasn't even partially the fans fault. We all know the truth. Anyway fuck goonersweb, would be nice to have some proper footy debate and thats why I am here. I've been going to THOF since the mid 80s and go to most home matches still. Also drink in the rocket pre match.
PS - Is there an building on Walton Breck Road (outside the Kop for those that don't know) that is a Heysel Justice office???

No it's ok, they were the first members of the Prawn Sarnie brigade...they had to pay extra to sit up there"!nut flush gooner wrote:Mate I pointed this out on Goonersweb, but the average fan doesn't know about heysel let alone scousers climbing the walls at wembley. I was reading an account of Heysel, by a hooligan who was there. It left me gobsmacked that it was not, in his opinion, Scousers' fault.
Off to see if I can find it.

Re: New Poster
Found it. C&P excerpts from 'With hope in your heart', Christopher Whittle.
There were concerns made by both Liverpool and Juventus regarding the unsuitability of the ground as a European Cup Final venue. Again, it all fell on deaf ears. So UEFA must share some of the responsibility of what happened at Heysel.
The Liverpool fans, stoked up with hatred for Italians, following the violent and unprovoked attacks on them 12 months earlier, and a sheer, bloody lust for revenge, coupled with the egging on of racist thugs, connected to clubs with affiliations to Combat 18 and the National Front.
What many people do not know, if that Juventus fans started the missile throwing, and Liverpool fans reacted – badly. I am not making excuses for Liverpool fans, but merely stating facts.
Yes, as Liverpool fans, we must hold up our hands to take a fair share of the responsibility and blame for Heysel. After all, if we had not rushed the chicken wire fence, people would not have died. Yet, Juventus fans did not exactly cover themselves with a blaze of glory that night either.
They were spoiling for a fight, both in that terrace and at the other end of the ground. Some of them actually had guns for goodness sakes. One Italian supporter had a starting pistol
The racist thugs whose sole purpose was to cause trouble and deflect the blame onto Liverpool fans. It is an absolute known fact that leaflets were being handed out by The National Front that night.
Of those that were arrested 60% were Scousers, but 40% were not. I wonder how many were actual Liverpool fans, and how many were racist thugs from other clubs.
Heysel was neither pre-meditated, nor was it murder. Then we come to the ‘justice for the 39’ calls. If you look at the evidence and the undeniable facts, 14 Liverpool fans were tried and convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the wake of the Heysel tragedy. Furthermore, the chief police officer in charge was also tried and convicted and was sent to prison for several months. So, there was ‘JUSTICE FOR THE 39.’

Re: New Poster
Completely unfair that Liverpool were blamed at all. These Italians were armed to the teeth and vicious thugs, and the Liverpool fans stood by shellshocked whilst unconnected NF thugs broke down the wall. Besides, you could have blown on that wall and it would have crumbled. The conviction of 14 Liverpool fans was a prime example of the victimisation of the fans and the city, just like the award of the dubious penalty to Juventus and just like the unjustified persecution of that innocent fella Michael Shields.Top Londoner wrote:Found it. Re: New Poster
Another new poster. Been going on to the Online Gooner site most days for ages to read the articles and have been reading the fanzine since the very start but hardly ever clicked on to the forum for some reason.
Having had a browse over the last few weeks decided to join as my views on the manager and the way the club is being run are reflected here far more than anywhere else and there's clearly a load of proper Gooners on here. Ones who realise the club is far bigger and far more important than any individuals. Specially the ones who abuse the power they should never have been given in the first place
