So Paddy Got Up And He Sang It Again.

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Last time I remember it being sung was at Reading a few years back and some bloke behind me just kept going mental because he was adamant people should be starting slower, think he got pissy and ended up going to find another seat.
Used to be an oldish bloke with a grey beard and pony tail in the NB would yell "Slow down yoo caaahnts!" whenever the songs would speed up. 8)
Oldish Irish guy with an London accent :?:

Huh? :| Who said he was Oirish? :rubchin: He was a Londoner (probably not as much of a Londoner as SuperfanJD, but a Londoner all the same).

Or are you just asking... in a slightly shit fashion...

Herd wrote:Its always been just the chorus ,the rest some melt has added the rest and is truly the first time I've seen it ,
it was particular used as an away song and was first Sung en masse away to Villa circa 1983 when a 20 min version got going in the days when Villa put the away fans upstairs for seats.
It is one of the Original Herd Songs along with
She wore a Yellow ribbon (the battle song of the Herd )
Eyes right skin-back tight (covered by the riders)
Crabs on her Eybrows ,Spunk on her nipples (to the tune of these are a few of my favorite things)
Later Roddy the songmeister would add classics like the Perry Grove tune first done away to Memphis Vienna and so many more I've lost count .

Herd, how i a remember those days. gives me some good memories

Cheers herd, thats really educating. As a mid 20s gooner feel a sense of responsibility to not let these die.
Next home game vs. WBA I'm gonna shout WHAT DID SHE WEAR? when on the KF bridge, I wonder how many will know what I mean. :rubchin:

Agreed. Can only ever remember the chorus being sung. We often used to go in the seats at away games in the mid 80's. Normally that meant sitting amongst the home fans, but providing it wasn't in their end then it wasn't normally seen as a big deal. When 30-50 gooners sang this and stood up it was a great feeling!

I started a chorus of this in Schalke. The guy in front of me was real old school (actually looked a bit like an older version of Liam Gallagher...) and turned around to give me an appreciative nod as if to say "good call. Perfect song to capture the moment". I'm not always the best at getting a chant going so I was chuffed  !

I remember that "Paddy-Song" beeing sung over large periods of time at a CL match away to Eindhoven (not sure which one actually, but I guess it must have been at the 4 - 0 win not at the draw some 10 years ago...) Someone just continiously sang it over again and again much to the annoyance of those around (who were quiet...) until finally others joined in and it was picked up on by the whole away end or so. Large parts of the text were lost on me though... :rubchin:

Hmm... imagine kids brought up supporting Arsenal this season... the first song they learn might be "we want our Arsenal back!" - that's a bit of a mind-fuck for them

Roy Keane-o, Roy Kean-o
for fifty-thousand quid
he scored for Real Madrid (sung at Lens, after he extended his contract at Manure and scored an own goal in the CL couple of days later...) :D

everyone.

that song is still sung today at cup games  - though not enough cos the corporate fuckers have taken away our yellow.

i can remember train journeys as a kid, when we'd bundle off on to the platform at some shithole and the shout would go up - "Yeeeeeeellllllllllllllllooooooooowwwwwwwws" over and over again :barscarf:

jesus said paddy is a crap song. our block in The Clock End used to sing it all the time, i never really got it as an "Arsenal" song.

she wore, though i think is a song unique to us, at least chelsea haven't stolen it like most of our songs...

Didn't use the war cry on the KF bridge, decided to go for it in the ground (back of block 6) and am pleased to inform that a few handfulls joined in (que the king jason jokes)

Red army went on for about 10-15 mins today and was getting louder and louder untill it was only me and a loud fella about 7 seats to my right, I wanted to try and keep it going for the rest of the second half but my throat was fcuked! :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:
