Suarez again !!
Re: Suarez again !!
So what has he done wrong?. Yes the ball hits his arm but so what? That's what you see every second game in the PL and the only difference is that usually the ref blows the whistle but missed it this time.
A cheat because of such a nothing-incidend really but Bale is only protecting himself when he rolls over the grass. What a joke.
I won't defend actions like biting, diving etc so there is enough for everyone to slag Suarez off but that's just a joke and I doubt anyone would care if it wasn't Suarez.
Don't know about the picture. Might be just a good shot from the cameraman half a second before Suarez turns to the kid for example. In Amsterdam he was - OFF the pitch - a very nice person that's why I'd be surprised if he just ignored the kid but of course you never know.

Re: Suarez again !!
Suarez is a complete git, but there isn't a single player in the PL who would go up to a ref and ask him to check if was really a goal because he may have handled it. The reaction is completely OTT because it's Suarez and against a non-league team.
Most players cheat most games. I hate it, but until retrospective punishments are given for handball, diving, fouls, shirt-pulling etc nothing will change.

I get a small among of vomit come up whenever Champion opens his mouth. I cannot stand that commentator. Always quick to stick the knife in along with his sidekick Craig Burley. The less Jon Champion the better.Barriecuda wrote:http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013 ... -apologise
^ FFS. Liverpool, ever the media darling, gets an APOLOGY from ESPN because Jon Champion branded Suarez a 'cheat'. JC has been a fantastic broadcaster for years - much better than those two absolutely awful clowns Darke & McManaman
Ugh. If this results in less Jon Champion I'm going to be very disappointed.
Also: That picture above is hilarious, what timing on the part of the cameraman. To be fair though, these players are inundated with autograph requests at every corner and simply cannot realistically be expected to sign something every time it's put in front of them. The picture makes it look awful, and it's sad to see when a kid is denied an autograph, but from a purely practical perspective it happens.
Back to the Suarez incident, it was the celebration which did it for me. Nasty piece of work.
I found this story. Who's going to be remembered in the better light in future, a rascist, diving, Freddie Mercury lookalike (sorry Fred) or an World Cup all time leading goalscorer who'd do something like this;

I might have a soft spot for him partly because he has been the commentator on PES (video game) for so long.Natural Born Gooner wrote:I get a small among of vomit come up whenever Champion opens his mouth. Re: Suarez again !!
No fan of Suarez but agree the reaction is ridiculous. I don't remember van der fart getting slaughtered for virtually catching the ball before scoring against us. I remember Thierry Henry getting roundly defended on this forum. Just like when players are chopped down to prevent a clear and obvious goalscoring opportunity or a myriad of other fouls committed in the game to prevent or score a goal it is up to the referee and his assistants to spot it and take action.

Re: Suarez again !!
Either the debate about cheating is on the table or it isn't....if ESPN apologise for calling something as it was then the debate is over, diving is ok, time wasting is ok and cheating is ok. I'm not naive enough or idealistic enough to believe Suarez should have owned up to the ref but I don't believe that the media should hide behind the truth for whatever reason they see fit. Cazorla was correctly hammered for his dive V WBA. Suarez has history but are the media afraid of Liverpool because of their victim culture.?

Re: Suarez again !!
Mate you must be joking. Cazorla's dive was shocking and much worse than Suarez handballing and refusing to own up to it. Cazorla took some stick on MOTD and some brief mention in the papers but the Suarez story was one of the lead stories on BBC, SkySports and in the papers yesterday and today.Bradywasking wrote:Either the debate about cheating is on the table or it isn't....if ESPN apologise for calling something as it was then the debate is over, diving is ok, time wasting is ok and cheating is ok. Scousers might have a victim culture but if there's one thing for sure it's that Suarez doesn't get an easy ride from the media. He's public enemy number 1. If that was Jonjo Shelvey would it have been regurgitated to the same extent? No.
Re: Suarez again !!
IMO it was accidental, you could see clearly he tried to take his arm away and his reaction after had a hint of surprise the officials didn't spot it.
Yes, he was a cheat, but he's made a good effort to clear that tag.
I think he's a fantastic player and would love him at The Arsenal.
Unlike Chimp who is a c_nt who tries to justify his cheating...
I hate the way the press and sheep! jump on the pointing finger bandwagon and go OTT on the issue.
Remember Henry for France, FA Cup incident at Cardiff then we lost to Owens late goals, blah blah...it happens in football.
The Mansfield manager and Rodgers were spot on with their comments IMO.

Re: Suarez again !!
I too cannot stand Champion, that fucking whiny 1950's voice of his and they way he so often sounds almost offended by what he's watching? Tosser. He spent nearly the whole second half of our game against the Toon whining on about the fact we'd played one less game than them over the Xmas period, the stupid fuck.Natural Born Gooner wrote:I get a small among of vomit come up whenever Champion opens his mouth.
