For him a good move, a great squad, less hysterics than in spain or england, should be able to grow as a manager. He'll still be under pressure to perform because this bayern squad has got to 2 european cup finals in 3 years.

I would love him at arsenal, and sure there are risks, but frankly considering his record i'd take it!

I'll back him to show doubters how talented he is.

I accept that we will never sign superstar players but I do 100% believe that we could have got pep as our next manager - all the time people talk about him wanting to do things properly and be with a club committed to developing their own young players and we fall into that small group. As beegeegs has already said, we ain't that far away from competing again but we do need some fresh coaching and tactical ideas to a squad that has lost it's way and is underperforming for sure. As well as that we as a club need to give a big show of ambition again - I know that this is a point that I keep making but perception is huge nowadays and the public perception of our club is not good and appointing pep would have gone some way to addressing that imo.

On a selfish level I don't understand why he went to bayern :? I know that they are a huge club and it is a good league but is it a competitive league ? Personally I don't think that it is cos I believe that it is between bayern and Dortmund for the league every season and I actually don't see Dortmund lasting at the top for too long either cos success comes in cycles to clubs like Dortmund whilst bayern are huge.

i see what you're saying augie, but in england traditionally its been between two clubs, used be us and utd, then chelsea now city. Chelsea should be up there this season but you know what roman's like. The european cup is the big for challenge for Bayern, and they've bottled it many times.

I do think if the right package was offered Arsenal would have been very attractive. But with a stingy board, an owner that has less knowledge and enthusiasm than a fat waster in a pub. I don't we could have offered something attractive enough to tempt him.

Maybe his break indicated that he needs some time to develop and think a bit, his interview for the FA alluded he'll like to come to england, but there was plenty of time for him to do so.

Do you really think Arsenal has a chance when Bayern really want him?

And the Premiere League? United against City and additionaly they are worse than Dortmund and Bayern.

This year maybe it is Kite. Add Chelsea to that with their wild spending, after two poor managerial appointments (maybe three) I'd expect them to be thereabouts next year.

Fair play to Dortmund, they've got a great set-up there. But for as long as I can remember nobody has really managed a sustained challenge to Bayern. Teams have popped up for one or two seasons and then vanished again back into the depths. We were up there for about 8 seasons, Chelsea likewise until their blip last 18 months in the league, City surely will be unless there are extreme changes.

It makes sense for him. Huge club, good squad, massive resources, nice place, little competition, no media fanfare and no crazy owners.

The information is that he wouldn't come to England at the moment with the prospect of Mourinho also working in the Premier League in the near furture, as he believes the environment would be toxic.

Could we get a manager if Bayern also wanted him? Yes, of course in the general scheme of things and all things being equal. Unfortunately, at present our brand is a mirage.

But very often there was some club that was able to at least compete with Bayern. Does it really matter if it is the same team (or set of teams) every year (like Real was the main rival for Barca every year) you compete against or if there is always another team (Wolfsburg, Schalke, Dortmund..)?
I mean if you look at the PL you have either Manchester United against City or against Chelsea and in the past you can add United against Arsenal. In the Bundesliga you have Bayern against Dortmund or against Schalke or against Wolfsburg or someone else. It's not that different as there is one big team in both leagues and some smaller ones who try to challenge the big team.

And don't forget the Champions League. I doubt Guardiola will be satisfied with one or two league titles. He wants the big one for sure and there is no english club that has a better chance of winning it than Bayern at this moment.

Hi,
not sure what he want to do at Bayern...and also not sure if it works out (Bayern style is not Barca).

Hope you can win against Bayern in the CL and I think you can!

Cheers,
Thomas

I was just about to say that. The biggest story this year and they didn;t have a clue. To busy regurgitating Lampard and Benitez stories.

Moyes was always first choice for me, Pep is somewhat unproven.

Pep to Bayern rumours surfaced a month ago in the UK press.
Am almost sure BBC gossip column carried them, and ESPN certainly ran the story on their website on 14 December 2012.
But most bloggers thought he was a shoe-in here.

Am surprised, but think he has gone there to test his skill in a physical league before coming here.

I reckon he knows which club he wants to manager here, and is waiting until there is a vacancy.
