So there is the excuse for the change of kit colours ready made, in honour of Herbert.

I remember years ago chatting to a ManU fan who used to get down my local pub.

He was telling me that he remembered his mum coming in to the kitchen, with tears in her eyes, and telling him about the "Busby Babes" who had been killed in a plane crash.

I had a think about this. Then I asked a few people who knew him well exactly how old the guy was.

Sure enough, my suspicions were correct. The guy was born five years after Munich!

Typical fucking plastic manc. Born and raised nowhere near fucking Manchester. Never attended any fucking manyoo game. Prepared to tell downright fucking lies to justify his "support" of his beloved club.

Unlike the plastic manc, I am just about old enough to remember the event. And the national wave of sympathy which propelled the club toward being the most widely "supported" in the land. It was a tragedy of course. And I'm not being disrespectful to the young men who lost their lives. But it was the best thing that ever happened to the club.

They ought to stop milking it.

I can understand why some of you guys think they shouldn't be 'milking' it. After all, it had a big impact on Manchester United mainly. The Munich disaster was nothing like Heysel or Hillsborough, which had an impact on the whole football world.

We lost nine (?) players during the Second World War. I bet many people don't know anything about that. And did we ever commemorate it? Wasn't that long before the Munich disaster.

Is it just me who thinks they shouldn't be dragging it up again year after year after year. TV programmes, interviews with Ferguson etc etc etc. United have milked it for all its worth and owe much of their massive fan base to it....

Even if they just did it every 10 years maybe? But to commemorate the 55th anniversary.... !

Disagree it the impact was greater than just united's, England lost 2 world class players. It's also the issue that the FA did not want to play in European competition, meaning the pressure was put on united to return back to play a league match because the FA wouldn't postpone the game by 24 hours as all games had to be played at 3pm on Saturday as a matter of principle. How times have changed.
Also, I think we should remember it because that great team's last appearance on an English pitch was against us at Highbury, an epic 4-5 defeat.

The dead of Ibrox, Heysel, Bradford and Hillsborough won't be honoured or remembered in this way.

Just in case anyone still gives a shit....there is (yet another!!!) programme on about the Munich air disaster - tonight on channel 5.

I was at Bradford that day in 85 - horrible, horrible day. The Munich disaster will obviously be remembered because it is Manchester United - a massive club. Bradford does seem to have been forgotten which doesn't surprise me.

One of the stands at Sincil Bank is named after the two Lincoln fans who died. Away fans often chant who the fuck is Stacey West. Doesn't go down well at all!

I watched video of the Bradford disaster recently. The Health and Safety guy at work showed us footage in order to remind us why we should care about fire regulations.

It was bloody awful. Horrific in the extreme. We saw one poor man who wasn't in the stand which caught fire. He was just close enough to the inferno for his clothes and hair to start smouldering. He was in shock. And was only walking away from the heat, instead of running. It's an image I'll always remember.

Didn't know that 2 Lincoln fans died that day too - just goes to show how littlle the average fan is aware of that horrible day - I well remember watching the awful scenes on the news that day.

I think that is what upsets some Lincoln people, the fact that we lost two as well and it isn't acknowledged. It was surreal. The stand's burning down, people on fire, and thousands on the pitch chanting football songs.
