It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

If you were in that position, wouldn't you call out your girlfriend's name just to see if it was her?
Even if you got no reply, then the sensible thing to do would be to have your gun ready but get the hell out of there and call the police, especially if the intruder was in a bathroom and not blocking your path to the front door.
But he would argue that he was a sharpshooter who would take no chances?
I just don't buy this business of shooting through a closed bathroom door, or of a bloodied cricket bat found outside it.
Given all that, it seems he doesn't really have a leg to stand on!!

True. I reckon he racked his brain for a plausible excuse but was well and truly stumped

Breaking News Oscar Pistorius has been released without charge, after police uncovered fresh evidence which puts him in the clear "a mans footprints in the bedroom"
Pretty tenuous explanation. Obviously don't know the law over there and obviously far more tolerance of gun-related 'self-protection' but you'd have a pretty hard time over here convincing a court that shooting a figure 4 times without making any enquiries when not in IMMEDIATE danger is 'reasonable' action to take.
Unsurprisingly given bail, have to say I didn't think the prosecution did a fantastic job in making out that he was a flight risk. I would take issue with the following two points though:
1) Why is there an apparent presumption of bail in a case of pre-meditated murder?
2) What is the need to make initial evaluations on the state of the prosecution's case at a bail hearing? In general terms it simply is not relevant.
The judge fucking loved the limelight as well, took 2 hours to actually spit his verdict out.
