Good luck Cap'n

Go fuck yourself almunia and visit the *word censored* thread. :barscarf:

You had a contract, you were happy to sit on that...fair enough. but stop whining now, just consider yourself the most fortunate player in the fucking history of football to play for a great club, with some great players, in great matches that were well out of your fucking league. You :censored:

Read a lot of hate on this thread, all of it misplaced in my opinion.

Almunia was tucked away in a backwater, whisked away to London before he could catch his breath, and thrust into our squad.
Utterly out of his depth, he worked hard, upped his game to a decent standard for 18 months before descending back to the level of a Championship keeper or even lower.

He was plucked from obscurity for a position he was not prepared for.
That is not his fault.

Truthfully he was the level of a third or fourth choice keeper, being asked to play first team starter.

What was Almunia to do if he had a year left on his deal and no one could afford his wages, or if Arsenal demanded a transfer fee?
I can hardly see him buying himself out of his deal.
So much time on this Forum has been spent criticising Wenger and Gazidis for putting average players on higher than expected wages for long contracts, yet people have laid into Almunia for this???

And in what way did he cost us the Champions League Final.
His failing to save shots?
We all knew he was not good at those near post saves!
Lehmann got himself sent off.
Wenger then decided to take off our best player on the night, Pires.

Blame Wenger for using such a non-prepared player in our team, but no point blaming Almunia himself.

100% He is a *word censored*, and I could see him having his one stormer of a game against us next season, then continuing in his own inimitable useless way in every other game.
I hope palace beat them and we never have to see this useless bastard, who cost us so many games again.

This guy's errors probably cost us the 2006 CL and the 2009/10 PL, and I hope he goes on to have absolutely zero success.

However, isn't the reason that he stayed on the bench in his last season with us because of the fact that AW couldn't find a buyer due to his obscene wages?

Also, that year out of the team was probably his greatest contribution in his entire career with us, because that's the only way he could avoid causing damage.

Knowing half of our dipshitty and brainless supporters, if Watford do come up they'll give this useless *word censored* a standing ovation when they come over!!

No standing ovation for coco the clown.Watford didn't turn up and the oldest gooner in the premier league next season scored from the spot when Zaha was brought down. He'll be guaranteed a goal against us as he seems to have a good record for scoring against us for a dyed in the wool gooner

Another faaaaackin' London derby at least this one is 2 train stops from me, so no excuse for not indulging in a bit of this

Bet you Palace at home will be Gollum's first game at old crappford......wonder if the Palace fans will still cheer him if Zaha dives against them in the dying secs of a nil-nil

I always enjoy the championship play off final and it is usually one of the best games of the season but that today was utter shite and I mean utter utter shite  Watching the game I thought that neither team are good enough to play in the championship and now one of them is going to be in the premiership next season - a sure bet to go straight back down imo

For what it is worth I am glad palace won - I don't like the way watford have almost a full team of loanee's and I have a soft spot for palace after them getting cuntana banned when he played for manure 8)

Another good one is the praise he got for making a routine save when having been uninvolved up till that point. Apparently its difficult for a highly paid professional to stand around and watch a football match for 60 minutes without dozing off. When you consider cricket fielders have to stand around for hours and be expected to catch a little red ball travelling at 60 mph.

Certainly Coco was total crap playing foe The Arsenal but Wenger doesn't really have a scobbie about keepers, just compare his record to George Graham who ruthlessly replaced a league title winning GK Lukic with Seaman.

Wenger was cute enough not to replace Seaman in the same way at least when he first arrived. After signing Lehman in the last years of his career, Wenger has been pissing in the wind regarding goalies!!! Although the signs were already there beforehand despite promise from Manninger .

And who the fuck made Gerry Payton the goalie coach???? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Ferguson was always ruthless with his keepers & had no hesitation in quickly signing replacements when needed!

Wenger obviously doesn't feel keepers are worth paying big money for! Surprised he hasn't tried to convert a centre back into one!

Lehmann may have been completetly daft but he was an excellent keeper and miles better than most of the sh*te that people now w*nk over in the league.

Cech 2005-2008 was probably the best of the league's goalies but even he's been dodgy since then.

The new ones are all obsessed with trying to save with their feet even when it can be caught or even worse punching when under no more pressure than is expected when a cross comes into the box

Fergie allowed Barthez to stay longer than he needed to by the way.

De Gea is an excellent shot stopper but that's his minimum requirement, he is still very much sh*t on crosses he just gets away with it because the mancs have to with stand less pressure in most games. How can the keeper who conceded the most goals in the top 4 be the best keeper in the league :?

If you take the vermin out of the equation even Tim Howard conceded less goals.
