F*&k Off Laurent Koscielny
Re: Fuck Off Laurent Koscielny
Whilst we are analysing the living shit out of Koscielny's comments, It's probably worthwhile remembering that he turned down Barcelona and signed a new 5 year contract with us last summer.

Re: Fuck Off Laurent Koscielny
Dont think there was anything wrong with his comments considering the whole interview and the questions which he was asked?? Clearly a case of the media trying to spin things during the quiet season based on translation.http://www.eurosport.fr/football/match- ... tory.shtml
‘Regarding your future, where will you play next season?’
I feel good at Arsenal, I still have a four-year contract. I have just finished a hard season especially during the first six months but that's finished. I want to win titles and I hope that the club will give the means to achieve this, they deserve it. There is also the issue of whether the club wants to keep me?
‘Isn’t it gruelling to go through season after season without winning trophies? What could incite you to leave?’
If the club has the means to compete with the best, I have no reason to leave. But if it fights every year for Champions League [qualification] it’s hard psychologically to be under such constant pressure. I do not want to go anywhere. I want to win the championship but of course it's complicated. I want to lift trophies and give me a record. I hope the club will give the means. If this is not the case, I'd look elsewhere.
‘PSG focused on you, has there been contact?'
Paris [Saint Germain]? I don’t know. I’ve not had any contact.

Re: Fuck Off Laurent Koscielny
Blown out of all proportion but it is another area that the club do not handle well. They should be on top of all media contact the players have and if a player does an interview without their knowledge or steps out of line with what they say it is a disciplinary issue (in this case just a gentle reminder about how words can be twisted by the media).
Also, anyone know what Kos is on with us at the moment? I know he’d get a signing on fee if he moved but he’s not that good that one of the big clubs are going to throw £100k a week at him, if he is angling for a pay rise somewhere else then maybe someone should tell him AFC are the only team operating a socialist wage structure and other clubs only offer big bucks to their star names.

Re: Fuck Off Laurent Koscielny
Certainly been blown out of proportion, but even if it hadn't, I don't really see the issue with what Kos said. He wants to win titles, fair enough. I don't think it's unreasonable to question whether we have the capability to do that here, especially when a club like Bayern come knocking. If we don't, why on earth would any sane footballer stay when they can win things elsewhere? As fans, we're obviously biased towards the team, but these players don't care about the club. The sooner people just accept that, the better, because with very few exceptions it's not going to change.

I think everyone realises this, what most people have an issue with is that these comments came from a player who, let's face it has had 3 good months at the club, the rest of the time he has been as culpable as any other defender regarding mistakes and plain old shitness.
If he was a world class player (eg. vp) then we would understand these comments (although players should just shut the fuck up and let the agents deal with all that side of things) but he ain't and I would be amazed that a) barca or bayern were really interested in him and b) if he was a regular if he indeed did somehow get to one of these clubs.
Arsenal must be a very good shopping window that somehow dresses up average Als as stunning world beaters, Song, Hhleb, Nasri, adeybarndoor etc.

Emabarrasing thread - sheep following what the media tells them.
Read his comments, he wants to win things - dont we want players like that? Havnt we had enough journeyman?
Where does he say he wants to leave?
He wants what we all want, has been in our top 3 players over the course of a season since he joined and like any good footballer wants to acheive in his career - preferably at Arsenal, but if not, then elsewhere.
If Wenger does what we all want, we keep our best players - simple as that.

Re: Fuck Off Laurent Koscielny
I posted this on the transfer thread about Koscielny, re posting here as it applies to this thread too.
"The Koscielny story is a non-story.
It is a slow news week for Arsenal, though there is enough going on elsewhere with the England games, Falcao, Neymar and Navas transfers, Mourinho back at Chelsea and the under-21 Championships in Israel.
But a serious dearth of Arsenal news.
So a dull interview where the player says what players say in 90% of interviews "I have no plans to leave, but if we do not have success eventually I may have to reconsider" is spun into more than it deserves.
Why let your heart skip a beat over it?"

I don't see what all the fuss is about, to be honest.
He plays like he cares and his comments were nothing to lose your shit over either. It's a trivial non-event barely worthy of a raised eyebrow.
Hmm... I wonder what people will be angry and moaning about tomorrow?

Are you really accusing people of reading too much into these comments yet stating that he turned down Barcelona on the basis of other article??kiwomya wrote:Whilst we are analysing the living shit out of Koscielny's comments, It's probably worthwhile remembering that he turned down Barcelona and signed a new 5 year contract with us last summer.

On the other hand, your sewing machine story ....

Re: F*&k Off Laurent Koscielny
Whatever the merits of the article or the thread I can't believe one line.
" But if it fights every year for Champions League [qualification] it’s hard psychologically to be under such constant pressure."
Why?
If you're gearing for fourth, you can afford to lose 7 or 8 games, draw 9 or 10. If you wanna win the thing you need to be much more switched on, 4 or 5 defeats, 5 or 6 draws.
And if there is anything definite we can say about Koscielny and his own playing form, its that it lends its self to drumming around for 4th much more than it does to being the stand out defender in a championship winning team.

Re: F*&k Off Laurent Koscielny
What makes me laugh here is the very fact that because the club shows no ambition for trophies it means we collect average players like....Laurent Koscielny

Re: F*&k Off Laurent Koscielny
If Koscielny wanted to win things why did he join us?
