fixtures list 2013/14

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

It may be because of the Champions league games, last season we drew both games after playing midweek, the year before we drew 1 and won 1. So it may be that by November the playing 2 games a week catches up with a small squad.

But the man who has worked in football for 30 years tells us all that we have a 'very big squad' everytime we moan about a lack of signings like the imbecilic morons we are (thanks for that Peter and Patrick)......so surely that can't be a factor

He actually went so far as to say that we have 2 players for every position - considering that you could justifiably argue that we havent a keeper or striker of required quality plus we have absolutely no DM, then it shows wenker up yet again for the dogshite he spouts

I remember a few seasons ago (I think that it was 2011/2012) when we had a really tough run of fixtures at the start of the season and I was mistakenly convinced that the CIC would have to buy early in order not to fall behind our rivals early doors - how naive was I ?    :banghead: :banghead: :cussing: :cussing:

yep, that is a bit crazy...
obv we did have two 'players' for every position
but surely we need two half decent players, which was where we fell down
actually did we even have anyone as 2 in some positions, who was CB 4? and backup striker??
Szcz-Flappy
Bac-Jenks
Gibbs-Nacho
Mert-Verm
Kos- ?Squill?
Tets - ?
Jack- Rambo
Santi - Rosicky
Pod - Gerv
Giroud - ?
Feo - Ox

Stick close to @REDactionAFC on Twitter, as they might have an exclusive on the opening fixture tomorrow night.

You mean the day before the official list is published in full? I think I can wait another half a day or so, especially as for several hours of that I intend on being asleep

In truth I'm dreaming of a final day home fixture. One where we celebrate securing 4th place, Wenger's extended contract, regaining our beloved trophy of respect and retaining the fair play award ... all on one glorious sunny afternoon in May.

The Emirates crowd will rightly be going crazy if this happens. It will make the celebrations at Newcastle last month look reserved. And there will rightly be a lap on honour rather than a lap of appreciation. Even the ladies team can join in and parade their latest trophies.

What a day it promises to be :barscarf: :barscarf:

Correct me if I'm wrong but haven't they announced a few commemorative fixtures (wanna say Bolton v Burnley, maybe Derby v Blackburn, Newport v Accrington) on the first day?

I'd forgotten all about those *word censored* from Hull with their abuse and lies and spitting stories and their 'town full of bombers' chants to QPR fans a few weeks after the 2005 London bombings. If we do have them at home first game of the season, we'll hopefully thrash them and not have to have them back again for years after. I've just remembered how tin pot and small-time they are.
