Vietnam game - criminal tycon linked, Giroud hattrick

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Was on my lunch break earlier so watched a few mins of the first half and it has to be said that giroud's first touch was woeful on several occasions. Have to admit that when I stopped watching the score was still 1-0 and maybe he improved cos he def needed to  Obviously it is no big deal or no great surprise that he looked poor at times cos it is still only pre season but the worry of course is that the CIC will see his goals as a reason not to invest

I would say flat track bully but I don't think that's a fair analogy - scoring goals against these teams is like pillaging runs against a bloke being made to bowl underarm with a tennis ball from 35 yards away with no fielders.

just me or was Stewart Robson less annoying than normal?
of course 'Nam were absolutely pants + its only pre-season but good to get some goals
couple of questions
- is Sagna now our 4th choice CB?
- is Ox now considered a centre mid, means we have quite a few!

Sagna was absolutely superb in central defence - although both full backs have still to learn how to defend properly, especially Jenkinson, who seems to think his primary job is to get down the wing rather than the defending part!! :banghead: :banghead:

The young kid Zelalem had another very good game and his vision is astounding!! Definitely has the ability to both keep calm in possession when under pressure and to deliver a threatening pass. I really am getting excited about him and look forward to seeing more of this young player in an Arsenal shirt. 8) :barscarf:

Also I thought Jack seemed to glide effortlessly back into his stride in the 20 or so minutes he was on the pitch. :barscarf:

We would be remiss to sell him.
I know he had a poor season by his standards but with Vermaelen injured, Miquel still raw and no other signings we need another option in central defence if one of the main two are injured.

One swallow doesn't make a summer but his performance at Sunderland was one of, if not the best, centre-back display in an Arsenal shirt last season.

I have argued for a long time that sagna has all the ingrediants to make a great centre back - strong and fearless in the tackle, strong in the air and a natural defender (as opposed to having to play as some kind of wing back in wenger's keystone cops system  )

Unfortunately those are secondary to the most important assets of technical ability, mental strength, desire and self-belief Augie.

Lovely story about the 'Running Man' who chased the team coach in Vietman. :D He ran more for us than Denilson ever did.
