Did you agree with him selling Sessegnon, thought he was one of your better players when he could be arsed. Given time you actually have a decent enough squad. I'd be more worried about a team like Fulham, with a team of prem league pensioners and no Berbatoss.safcftm wrote:I hope he's still with us then. Sacking him would achieve nothing, he's not blameless but it's far from all being his fault, he's been set up as a fall guy imo.northbank123 wrote:Anybody see di Canio still at Sunderland by November? His seemingly abrasive personality and his constant criticism of the players make sacking him quite an easy decision if the results aren't there.
I liked Sessegnon, one of the few worth watching at SAFC in recent years but his first two performances this season were the performances of someone who didn't want to be at the club, Di Canio agreed (having also seen him in training) and he took the decision that if a player who, good as he can be, is already incredibly inconsistent starts lacking motivation its time to cash in and that's fair enough as far as I'm concerned.topgoon wrote:Did you agree with him selling Sessegnon, thought he was one of your better players when he could be arsed. safcftm - whats the reaction to di canio fronting up to the travelling support? it was reported as if he was gesturing but to me he was saying keep your chin up believe in me and i'll sort it out...can you imagine pardew doing that to Newcastle fans...safcftm wrote:I liked Sessegnon, one of the few worth watching at SAFC in recent years but his first two performances this season were the performances of someone who didn't want to be at the club, Di Canio agreed (having also seen him in training) and he took the decision that if a player who, good as he can be, is already incredibly inconsistent starts lacking motivation its time to cash in and that's fair enough as far as I'm concerned.topgoon wrote:Did you agree with him selling Sessegnon, thought he was one of your better players when he could be arsed. I think we're fucked this season, relegation looms. We were 17th last season, lost 3 of our best 4 players (Rose, Mignolet and Sessegnon) and didn't replace any of them with proven quality. If you do that you're only going one way. We've been on a cost cutting drive for ages and now it'll cost us, we've sold all our good players (not holding onto them for a while, pretty much selling straight away) - Bent, Gyan, Henderson, Mignolet and they've been replaced by loanees who have kept us up (Rose did a cracking job, for all the pisstaking of him on here Bendtner was quality for us, as was Welbeck etc) but they keep going back to their parent club, permanent signings aren't brought in and the chickens are coming home to roost. A painfully average squad filled with unproven foreign fillers and a manager who looks like he's been hung out to dry. Oh well, fuck it, some good away days in the championship and we actually win matches sometimes!
I think he was just saying keep your chin up etc but he was getting a bit of stick from quite a few of the fans there, good of him to have the balls to come across to the support but the gesticulating and grandstanding is irritating some of our fans who are getting slightly sick of it always being about Paolo Di Canio, you can accept it when a manager gets results, when he doesn't he needs to be careful. I like Di Canio but he's probably finished here, doubt he'll see November at SAFCNos89 wrote:
