Yes, "smalltime" clubs bid £40m for players all the time. I hop on down to my local non-league club all the time to watch their array of £40m galaticosDan_85 wrote:Indeed. Coulda been ours for £45m I reckon, if we'd actually acted seriously and not tried to save some money with that embarassing, smalltime +£1 bid.donaldo wrote:Suarez hat-trick.Its like he has never been away. His price has gone up another £10m.The one that got away

I can see why it is viewed that way but at the end of the day it is not as if other clubs were queueing round the corner to offer more then we did. In fact we were the only club to bid for him and imo 40m was more then fair. I think the club was right to pull out after David Brent and co got on their soap box, fuck them.Dan_85 wrote:LDB wrote:Yes, "smalltime" clubs bid £40m for players all the time. We bid £40m+£1 because we mistakenly thought that would make him ours for the cheapest possible price. Stop always worrying about trying to save a couple of mil, do some some proper research and go in with a serious bid that they would have had to give some proper thought to.

The guy is a c**t and a particularly despicable one at that, I'm glad we didn't get him. Higuain is the one we missed out on. Real after tonight will be desperate for something in January and the rat faced c**t will leave the "group| and head off to Spain to fit in with 2 other world class diving c**ts.
After watching Fulham tonight, I will be stunned if they aren't part of the 4 teams that will still be down there come May 2014. The others being Sunlun,Palace and possibly Norwich City.
Fulham were gutless today bar maybe Sidwell. Berbatov is a luxury they can't afford if they want to stay up. Everytime he lost the ball or they were defending, the lazy sod just strolled around admiring his own shadow. Chamakh may have been useless today but at least he put himself about.
Re: OTHER pl games this weekend
A c+++ he may well be but an absolutely fantastic striker - one of the best that we could get our hands on if we'd tried harder. Its clear he won't hang around for a team playing outside of the CL but he'll now end up elsewhere. Barca had already banked on Neymar and Real spent all Summer chasing the monkey, but next Summer when they need a new "galactico" this fella will be top of the shopping list
Still by then Bendtner will have a new 3 year deal, Sanogo would have developed into a world class talent and there'll be some fella from Rennes who scored half a dozen goals to come in

That 'comeback' against the inbreds will only serve to help their form (and results) improve...typical feckin' inbreds can't do anything properly.

Mackems are not just one up against the geordies but they are playing them off the park
I like the mackems and hate the cuntbag pardew but I cant help thinking that di canio was right in trying to bomb Cattermole and bardsley out of that club - the former is a dirty little c**t that lets his team down time and time again, and the latter is an arrogant pr*ck who is a flash all about the money w*nker who are the ruination of the game I love

Re: OTHER pl games this weekend
I think even if we had offered £50m, Liverpool would still have rejected. They were not going to sell to us as they want top 4 and saw us as the the most likely of the top 4 to drop out and obviously by selling us Suarez that would pretty much end those hopes. The only thing we could've hoped is that he had a clause in his contract, which is what Wenger was advised and we would be under no obligation to pay more than what the clause stated.
I'm not sure which strikers would be feasible in January, maybe someone like El Shaarawy? It looks more likely that Wenger will wait until Summer to sign someone so maybe we'll have to look to loan someone in January.
As for the fixtures today hopefully Spurs drop points as they did against West Ham and a draw would probably best in the City Chelsea game.

Great win for the mackems.
Re: OTHER pl games this weekend
Atrocious defending from Clichy. Chavs 1 up.
