As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Isn't the point that the fans are meant to get the atmosphere going prior to the match so everyone is good voice when it kicks off ?
I understand the point, but the days of arriving early into the ground to get the atmosphere are long gone ; It just does not happen anymore, and I can't say it makes much difference ; it's all about the atmosphere during the match ; singing 30 minutes before kick off in the ground is seldom done by home fans now ; and that is at any ground in the UK.
It goes back to terracing, and 'getting in early' to get your favoured spot, which nobody has to do now. If you do get in the ground early, you can go to the bar, or food outlets, and watch TV ; you were lucky to have one of those options 25 years ago.
Stadium management are on record as saying that Away fans are subject to a different set of rules, as they will not be back until next season ; Home fans may be back next week, so any 'work' they put in to making people sit down etc is expected to have some benefit.
The best place to experience a football match with no need to sit and no stewards and no police is at your local non-league ground.
The only drawback is that the quality of the football is quite crappy. As is the atmosphere. And you get the odd stroppy little twat who thinks he's Mike fucking Tyson after he's had a few shandies........

The person in charge of the stadium is an odious creep known as XXXX XXXXXXX ,XXXXXXXXXXXXX !
Sitting like a circuit Judge he presides over the cases brought before him and dishes out his summary judgements which often result in banning innocent supporters many of whom are even season ticket holders .
He acts upon the information given to him from the Police and the Stewards and then issues his sentences .
No appeal, no dialogue, just his verdict .
One incident in particular made my blood boil over .
A Pal and his father (a retired company owner employing 70 people ) who has been supporting the Arsenal since the 50's
and has had a season ticket in the family since the 1940's moved from sitting next to melvyn bragg in the old place to the new stadium as we all did and paid for the top price seats in the new ground without going to club level.
The man and his son have never been in any bother with anyone ,certainly not the law or stewards or anyone .
Their pre-match ritual has for many years been a trip to the Arsenal Fish Bar and on to the ground, without alcohol.
2 seasons ago not everyone around them renewed their tickets and the seats in front were sold match by match to different people,at one match a rabid ,drunk ante wengerist who was jumping up and down slagging the team the manager the board and the fans who were in his opinion all *word censored* .
The man who is in his late 70's tried to engage the guy and get him onside but was abused and threatened by the man who was in his late 20's early 30's . He then tried to attack the older man but the mans son who like me is in his 50's intervened and restrained laddo ,from hitting him ,holding him until the stewards arrived.
The man was removed order restored and they thought that was that until a letter arrives from the club banning them for some matches for their conduct ,despite letters phone calls ,they could not get over the ban or present their case to the CLUB.
What does this tell you about the people who run the club !
Everything you need to know I think !

The Stadium Management team like nothing better than an easy life for every match, and it is very difficult to get anything outside of the ordinary organised.
It took four seasons to have them give the OK for the giant 'crowd surfer' flag now seen pre match in the North Bank, but even now it cannot move 'round the corner' to the East Stand, as that would 'create too many problems'.
